Is this a 15 year old video or are they trotting ot the "AFL is taking over the world" again. I notice they're trying on the South Africa thing in it, so probably an old video. They made a huge thing of how there would be 50,000 players in south africa or some shit 15 years ago and they don't seem to have ever mentioned it since.
It's cute until you realise how many people lap this shit up

According to Melbourne 'AFL' media, I'm a Swans, fan, because live in Sydney am patriotic towards Sydney, even though I could not name 1 player, have only been to 1 game in it's existence. When Swans played in the last GF, you would hardly had noticed they were playing.

You know those SMS’s you get asking to respond with STOP no more shit. This applies to this shit game on our football forum. You melbonites need to finally stand up and walk from that game that you’ve all had to conform to feel “included” in your town. STOP attending games and supporting a code that has been a cancer to our game forever here. STOP.

When Swans played in the last GF, you would hardly had noticed they were playing. Could be worse. I was born and raised in Melbourne and have zero interest in AFL. However because I'm a male living in Melbourne aged between 35-45, Google, etc, thinks I must be interested in AFL and would bombard my news feeds with AFL articles. I reckon it took a good 3-4 years of clicking 'not interested in this article' before they would stop showing up in my feeds all together. It's pretty good now, very rarely do I see any AFL nonsense. It's basically invisible to me now. I'm assuming it's a pretty similar story for you guys in NSW with NRL articles.

I suppose that depends how active you are using SM that I'm in the minority hardly have any accounts. My mobile is so used to what I look at re sport which is 80% football balance made up on motor sport/cars I get feck all NRL or afl etc besides I never look into them. Surfing and hot chicks are the other articles that get my interest to view/read.

They are pathologically obsessed with overseas recognition.
They’ve based a number of internal marketing campaigns with that desire for people overseas to recognise them.

+x+xThat's weird it's 15 years old I thought sixty mins just posted it Oh they did just post it. But the video itself is from 2010. And comments are turned off. They know what they're doing. AFL has allocated $1 billion over the next 10 years to try to get people to play the game. Expect to see a lot of promotions like this (I've noticed radio adverts in the last month trying to get kids to play AFL). https://www.bigfooty.com/forum/threads/the-afl-is-set-to-spend-1-billion-across-the-next-decade-in-an-effort-to-fast-track-more-people-signing-up-to-play-footy.1377090/The AFL is set to spend $1 billion across the next decade in an effort to fast-track more people signing up to play footy. In a major push to double the number of registered participants by 2033, the AFL will increase funding into traditional NRL states New South Wales and Queensland, but remain fully committed to financially supporting the heartland football states of Victoria, Tasmania, South Australian and Western Australia as well as the territories. The $1 billion war chest for the next decade is aimed at getting one million signed-up participants, almost double the 526,000 currently registered. the $1b will be spend on initiatives including: ● Constructing new ovals and facilities and increasing capacities. ● Rolling out modified versions of the game to attract new markets including diverse communities. ● Boosting women’s participation from 27 per cent to 50 per cent. ● Retaining juniors from the age of six to ten, to make up for impact of Covid from 2020 and 2021. ● Helping regional clubs with planning, funding, volunteering and grant applications. ● Assisting the expansion hub in Western Sydney to drive greater fan engagement for GWS, Sydney Swans, Brisbane Lions and Gold Coast. https://www.heraldsun.com.au/sport/afl-set-to-spend-1-billion-with-aim-of-having-one-million-participants/news-story/5b21bbe38522e9db9167418d2da66a70[/quote]On one hand... I wish the A-League had a billion dollars to spend on promotion (although lets be honest - it'd probably disappear like the Silverlake money). On the other hand... At least football doesn't need an advertising campaign to get people to play the game.
