+x+x+xDavilla suspended for 2 matches for 2 matches for violent conduct.  Correct decision I find it so hard to balance this with VAR obviously seeing the incident and ignoring it at the time. It was that clear and blatant there is no chance it was missed by VAR - as everyone who watched the replays saw at the time. It once again highlights the ineptitude and farce of VAR. It's also possible that VAR did actually look at it and flag it for review at the time. However, the on field ref (in this case Shaun Evans) has the power to decide whether to review the incident or not. It is possible he decided to just move on and get on with the game. On-field ref still has final say during the game. VAR cannot force the ref to give a red, they can only recommend it. Yeah. VAR has an obligation to suggest the ref goes to the monitor though (what you mean by review?) if they think there is something there the ref missed. I can think of only one ref we have who might have the 'confidence' to tell VAR he has seen enough of a violent incident without a monitor review and then only if he had seen it clearly himself. I just find it odd that anyone, anywhere, anytime could consider that grabbing someone's throat and forcing them back would not be considered a violent act. There is no part of a game where violence against another player (or anyone) can reasonably be ignored for the sake of getting the game back on. Edit: I understand and agree that VAR may have suggested a review and the ref chose to ignore that suggestion - just can't understand why he would do that.
