+x+x+xGood advice, but really not hard to figure it out. 9 yellow cards were given across those 4 games. 2 of those cards were given to players aged 21 and 22, so we can rule those out. One player aged 33 received 2 of those cards. One player aged 32 received 2 of those cards. Three players aged 27 received 1 card each. One of those players is not currently in the country. Difficult to speculate on the identity of the 27 year old involved, but the other 2 it's very clear. name them. It's not a crime to say who got yellow cards in those games I will. I don't really care. Interestingly 3 of the 4 games were against Sydney FC.... I'm not going to do the maths on ages, but every booking from those 4 matches for Macarthur (in order) 24/11 Jon Aspro Davila 09/12 Davila Clayton Lewis Isaac Hovar Kearyn Baccus Danny De Silva 20/04 Jed Drew Ivan Vujica (straight red) Kearyn Baccus Thomas Smith (straight red) 04/05 Kealey Adamson (straight red) Jake Hollman Media outlets have already named Ulises Dávila, Clayton Lewis and Kearyn Baccus. NSW police have also said there is a fourth player they would like to interview who is currently interstate, but it's unclear if they plan to charge him.

Interestingly the dates have Faghani and Elders and ref's.....pretty easy to get a card from faghani, just back chat him so perhaps he was picked. Not sure about Elders though.

It's wild you can bet on shit like this. I saw some bloke who blogged for the NPL or ran a media account or something for the club and he was saying if they lost the account would be bombarded with fired up people from all 4 corners of the globe burring up. He assumes, with a high degree of confidence, it was betting related. If the Macarthur players were getting $10k each (according to Fox Sports) then you can imagine how far a couple of K would go in the NPL.

+xIt's wild you can bet on shit like this. Agreed. I'm not a gambler, but I can see the appeal of having a wager on the result... even the scoreline. Maybe even betting that a particular player will score a goal But betting that a particular player will get booked? Sounds both highly susceptible to fixing as well as just a damn boring thing to bet on...

I've often said if you were a ref it would be so easy to give penalties every week if you were partial to a bung. Just wait until a corner and then pin the first bloke that pushed someone or grabbed a shirt. Good luck proving that was predetermined.

Can vouch for this Muz... every NPL crowd, no matter how small, has the dodgy Asian betting guy with tablet in hand measuirng the stats as he goes for the live feed in malaysaia or wherever it is... Some of the comments after upsets or poor losses on NPL clubs socials are hilarious... Some Nigerian dude telling the world Hellas is a shit club after choacking last eyars GF is just fun to read. hahahahaha

Just speculating here, but you can almost guarantee these blokes came undone by leaving some sort of a digital trail. Nothing is private when it comes to digital communications anymore. Doesn't matter whether it's text, audio, video, money transfers. Everything can be traced. Otherwise, like you said, without a trail no way of really demonstrating that a ref has been paid off. Always the possibility of a whistleblower though.

I meant as a ref you could blow a penalty every day at the week on a corner and suspicion wouldn't be raised one dot with the amount of shit that goes down in there.

Actually I'd be pretty suspicious after seeing the first time in history that someone got pinged for holding a shirt/torso/neck at a corner

They said they would when he returns to NSW and if he doesn’t return, they will seek to have him extradited. Vince Rugari’s article (which I can’t access again as it’s behind paywall), mentioned that a fifth player could be involved as well.

Just mentioning that no result of any game was affected in any way. Not condoning it, but it is small beer on a global scale. Some where around giving cricket pitch reports to bookies, and that didn't end up any careers.

This is very similar to the spot-fixing scandal involving three Pakistani cricketers in 2010 where players were paid to bowl no balls at certain points of the match. All three players involved went to prison.

And, it was the United Kingdom Gambling Commission which first alerted Australian authorities to suspicious betting involving Macarthur FC.

I can tell you that I used to referee here in W.A and I was refereeing a Women's state cup game at 7:45 on a Wednesday night in fremantle and it was freezing and awful rain and a guy walks up to me while do my pitch inspection and goes you got any info who is going to win , need to let a few people go , I'm like to myself that's commitment for gambling

https://www.foxsports.com.au/football/a-league/aleague-2024-three-macarthur-fc-players-arrested-after-police-investigation-yellow-cards-betting-probe-details/news-story/44337aec548b757a9f16dd8c255d7317Footage of arrests. Pretty heavy. I guess links to anything like organised crime poses risks of weapons etc. Really wonder what's to come of this and you'd assume the police have some pretty damning evidence.
