Good that Galatas is standing up against this CL nonsense

But maybe this mess is what's needed to bring the whole thing to a head

Level the playing field now, Full Pyramid

Go smart and hard Galatas.

I always thouhgt Football QLD was the devil but apparently Tassie is the absolute pits... Actively campaigning AGAINST South Hobart bid for NSD apparently now ....

Don't know if its true or bullshit, but they have been calling other clubs in Tassie advising them if they cooperate with South Hobart they will be barred from NPL competition.

Can someone in Tassie confirm/deny?

Serious question - what value do state federations add? Every time they’re mentioned it’s because they’re playing political games, scamming juniors for money, or blocking clubs from doing anything.

Fair question, don't have an answer.
IMO they should just be departments within the FA. I don't see why they need to be separate entities with their own boards.

correct.
All my business with National companies for countless years and years the buck starts and stops with HQ !
The State offices mightn't like it or moan about but IF they want to retain their job you do as HQ says otherwise be outed.

Where is the fine print re the State Feds ? anyone.
How have they ended up having so much power.

55% Feds vote >>>>> Feds are HQ

Could be worse, APL could have 51%

I know it’s an old topic but I wonder what would have happened if FIFA had to step in with that Congress stuff?
Would we have seen the voting structure change?

Realistically FIFA would never step in.
We're a tiny speck on their radar.

There is plenty of corruption in many other leagues compared to us that would require their attention.

We'd be relatively clean compare to them.

yes thanks I saw the congress list of votes but I was surprised the FA really have feck all power if see that right.
So the Feds if/when in need can work together and kill whatever threatens their patch's.
Below quotes Nov '21 from the link I put up.
"As of 23 November 2021, the congress of Football Australia consists of 100 votes exercised by the following 28 members in general meeting"
What was the voting breakdown pre Nov '21 matter on interest.
Anyway won't change whats in front of us right now.

Remember that Australia is still 'just' a federation of states and not a single country. Every level of Government holds itself sacred and every state has its own rules and peccadillos. I think the state federations are a conduit to each individual state governing body and the states would not choose to work with a national body when they can control expenditure and revenue through state infrastructure like the State football federations.

Short answer on top of that though is I don't think they really add any value in principle, BUT if Vic Football is able to work a deal with the Victorian government to improve football, or NSW football gets a special deal out of the NSW government (for say Grand Finals or a United Round) then you would have to ask yourself if those state governments would have put their hand anywhere near their pocket if a national organisation came knocking. Probably not in my eyes.

Stupid system that requires representation at all levels to match our political system but maybe the only one that would work - if they did their job and stopped being tossers with impediments based on greed and power.

When I wear their colours, I am the club.

State parochialism is one of the cringe memories I have from growing up in Australia. Shit taken so serious. I'd say the FFSA mission statement is "can't let the Vics get one up on us boys am I fkn rite cnt"

You guys think the possible u-turn has something to do with the FA and APL now working together due to the aleague’s problems?

It just questions me if the APL is involved in all of this tbh.

I also agree there seems to be too many roadblocks at all levels which don’t help not just for the NSD but all things that matter in the game.

APL wouldn't really be involved in the decision making process.

APL just sending the FA and SOS.
FA need to ensure there is a pro league running in Australia.
With that on the cards, FA going cold on the idea to start a new NST comp, if they need to run the A-league again.

It's more a matter of circumstance than the APL sabotaging the NST.
My opinion

The APL is crying poor that funding an NST will leave nothing left in the kitty for an APL bailout.

APL rings the old bell "privatise profits, socialise losses" but with the added "after bagging a windfall profit and losing it"

They are cancer.

Righto. I think you are talking about the tournament that was put together to determine the OFC rep at the world club championship, much to the chagrin of the NSL champion. It was contested by the HAL teams but was not actually connected.

I remember attending AU's match thinking that shenging qu bloke might go all right.
