Alex King on suited and booted. Very enjoyable and insightful. A good podcast when they have a serious guest otherwise amongst themselves it's too much yahooing and tangents. 

His explaining that VAR actually takes so long due to broadcasting. He makes the decision in half a minute but needs to wait. I wonder if that's the same in the EPL and they face the screen to prevent the awkward standing for 90 sec before announcing?

I think refereeing is a lot about relationships. I think some will disagree how he said he doesn't know every rule in the book but we probably shouldn't expect it? Hmmm. Strive for excellence I say. 

My friends and I often complain about precedence in a match when a ref gives an early yellow and then fouls of a similar ilk should be equally punished. It was interesting to note how he feels an early yellow was actually a mistake and then he tries really hard to not send the player off for something later in order to balance it out.

The problem with early yellows is if everyone settles down that's all well and good. If they don't you get screamed at for 85 minutes with 'but you gave a yellow for that before'.
