Genuinely thought the on-field product has been pretty good the last two years.
Mind you, I am a Mariners fan.

I like the idea of back-to-back games leading into the early EPL fixtures.

Whats the "news" part of this? yep what is "new" not news :) and what has Optus Sport got anything to do with the coming season yet they comment : The news comes after Clive Dickens, Optus Sport’s vice president of TV, content, and product development, said the A-Leagues need more help to truly thrive in Australia following a tough year that included staff redundancies and club distributions slashed. “At a club football level here in Australia, we just don’t yet have the support,” he said.

Whats the "news" part of this? Last season it was the Saturday 7:35pm game and the Sunday 5:00pm game on FTA. Now it's the Saturday 5pm and 7:35pm game on FTA and no game on Sunday. Maybe the thinking is people will watch both back to back, not sure.

Maybe it helps channel 10 with the basketball on Sundays as well? Hopefully a win/win. Ch10 never advertised the matches so at least we know it's all on one night now, and some proper pre/post match stuff would be nice. Gotta get rid of Brosque though, nice guy, but my lamp has more personality.

Suppose they hope many watch through their mobiles.

Nope as they are producing it for Paramount+ regardless of whether the game is on FTA or not. The FTA is just a broadcast feed.

No more football on Sundays at the pub then. Didn't mind a Sunday arvo watching a game at the pub for a few drinks. Could generally get most pubs to put it on when on 10 bold.

They always enjoy teh match day experience. Mind you, I'm by no means the only one. I know of a Mariners fan who gets 12 season tickets!!! CCM should have him stuffed.

With all due respect mariners are a different beast. You guys don't have other sport on. You're also the best run club in the league so you deserve the success I really hope you can pull 10k crowds and lead the league to some off the field success

The stadium very frequently hosts NRL matches and they're usually packed out which is galling to say the least for us rusted on football people.

Also, I understand we're already over a thousand memberships ahead of this time last year.
Hopefully that includes a bunch of new people rather than just excited old members getting in early.

Most of them have free to air tv. So just need to ask them to put on 10 Bold. Always liked any opportunity I had to watch a game at the pub rather than home. Saturday nights always more difficult. They usually have an abundance of sport on.

NRL play maybe 3 max games some seasons nowadays that incl pre season nothing very frequently at all, sure those few or less NRL games are packed house's for as MCG rightly mentioned the area lacks high end fixtures to pull people in, I think ARU play a odd game now and then as well. Mind you CCM are doing a stellar job over all the years......like the last man standing on the coast thankfully. Its the culture difference as well and on the coast - lets not forget the region was very anglo/retiree types and very typical aussie sports minded but its changing thats for sure. Gosford isn't the hub as it used as well, its spread out alot more and population spread etcetc.... Anyway good on you, it sure is a great area to be around through the summer - I luv it.

Maybe 1% in discussions - its all local football and Euro goss and banter and alf isn't even mentioned.
