But seriously. We have an amazing home record. A draw was unacceptable after our results plus our history. This was dross and Yengi should have been subbed before the red. I don’t like the brew ha but arnie has to go and there better be collective outrage.

The absolute minimal consolation is maybe all the shit happened in one game. Unlikely as the road ahead is even tougher. This win will motivate Bahrain across the windows so there may be a rebalancing but we will need to be very patient to ait for the outcomes.
An absolute stuff up tonight. The players know it and Arnold knows it. They'll undoubtedly deflect but it didn't have to be like this had the set up been better from the get go tonight.

If we sack Arnie who should we bring in? I wonder if FA even has an alternative short list in case its needed.

unless we break the bank we can't get anyone better than arnie imo
I do think something went terribly wrong here. 300 passes down from normal - the ball movement was really really slow
I think with all of our attacking mids out as well as all our rbs out the emphasis was on nothing going wrong. It was arch conservative. We played 3 defensive minded mids and 3 cbs, we had only 2 players in between bahrains lines....was really really conservative...
hope he turns it around...

He's a substandard coach at this level. I've said this from the start and I'm certainly not alone in that view. apart from a flash in the pan at the last WC, his only demonstrable ability is to coach his teams to play as less than the sum of their parts This performance has lost the dressing room written all over it.

Windows are so close until November. 5 games in 8 or so weeks. If we don't beat Indonesia then I think the FA will have to come in. I don't think Hrustic is going to be the silver bullet but I think Arnold will then call on Hrustic and by then McGree and Bos will be back.

Years of foreign journeymen clogging up almosy all attacking positions in a league that is closed with far too few teams means we have far too few decent attackers The good news is we have class defenders and have a chance to get points against saudi and japan

Stop bloody importing attackers!. I know some are decent and add to the league but there are plenty of good local players that need the chance. Beat the imports people say? The problem is the imports are guaranteed games so they don't jump ship.

Bodalato is one of our few promising number tens. What do we do? Sign a geriatric mata. Historically if our attackers dont get a lot of game time young they struggle to reach any heights If we have an nst that could mitigate the problem

The Arnold stuff aside, it just staggers me how uncomfortable we look in possesion. If Indonesia has 70% of the ball next Tuesday night we are actually a better chance of winning.

When you watch how we were, our 8s ran to the wings, the wingers went narrow. In the end the team was standing in a massive circle. There was nothing in the middle.

Been saying Arnie out for some time, but he got by because Redmayne saved a penalty and we beat Denmark, so Arnie was apparently the messiah. He has never been a very good manager, at least not at the International level. Domestically he is fine, but once the level ramps up, he struggles.
It's inexcusable the downward trend that the Socceroos have been on since Ange left. No major talents coming through and no noticeable brand of top level football being played.
Arnie won't be sacked any time soon because he beat Lebanon and Bangladesh. Not to mention that we still don't have a Matildas coach, so the FA are busy with that. They don't want to have to multitask.

They don't want to have to multitask. Yeah but he was ranked highly by a French football magazine so the stamp of approval removes anything we identify or think. Notice how the 10 team sugar coat everything? I know you've got to try and be upbeat for your audience but it's crickets from the media in regard to scrutiny or asking the hard questions. Constant deflection. Professionals like Peakcock knew how to raise the issues under Ange post game and have a panel discussion. Of course Slater and his bias made is heat up. It'll be uploaded later I'm sure but post match press conferences are a small event unlike games where the knives were out for Ange.

Yep, no idea why Arnold uses this tactic, when he doesn't have the players with the ability to exploit it. Whenever Irvine went to the left wing in the last 30 minutes I watched, the play just cramped up and we lost the ball, largely because of Irvine's poor touch.

These are not words one would associate with Australian culture particularly in terms of football. Australia is a very systematic by the book, follow the crowd structured culture. It doesn't innovate or invent. Everything is predictable with Australian players. They telegraph everything they are going to do.
