Great idea, Pasquali.
I'll join it. Hopefully, it has the same mechanism as here to have posts appear immediately, as opposed to have a mod approving them every hour or so, like Roar. A mate of mine had a football blog in this state which worked well, except he also approved posts every hour or so. The posts weren't immediate.
It is important to try and recruit most of the posters on this forum to it.
Any forum needs a steady stream of new blood.

I'm busy enough off forum with positions of responsibility. Not being a Mod means I can skip past posters like you, whose MO is essentially to troll, goad, derail, play the man not the ball, and cause as much conflict as possible.

I feel a bit traitorous considering joining the new forum while this one still lives and breathes its history. Like I did years ago when KORB or its similar replacement were being touted by invitation only. As long as this one has legs, a new forum feels like the Superleague Football option so I think I will stay posting here for now and keep the other bookmarked for 'if/when'. With no pressure on Bowden to continue the incredible time guzzling clean-ups he is doing, I will continue using this forum as long as he is willing to keep up the effort or gets help from the owners. The new forum looks good, and would make an excellent replacement for me if this one goes belly up. So genuine 'Thanks', Pasquali. Have you considered registering a 'posting' account yourself on it so you don't have to post as Admin and feel less human?

It’s very slow and unresponsive, the ads get in the way, if you log in it takes you to the wrong page etc. I like being ‘admin’. It makes me feel powerful 🤣

I've already posted a list of 40 odd current and past FTBL Forum posters to try and recruit. All of you are on it, minus one.
Keep posting in both forums, until this one ceases to exist. Inside Sport is already active. We need posters to post all their research in the Aussie Abroad thread on Pasquali's Inside Sport Forum 2. I'm not sure where the posters source all the material?
This FTBL Forum could close any day. There hasn't been much new advertising. It isn't generating money. There are costs involved running it. Anyone running a business wants to make money.
I've had a fair bit of recent contact with the current site owner of Inside Sport. It doesn't augur well for the future of this forum - but he might surprise us? He hasn't done what he has implied he was going to do to keep this forum going.
It might be a question of the entire Inside Sport site disappearing altogether.

How would you moderate? Some of us have been on here for decades and are the long term members. We held this forum together through just about everything. Ran multiple different things that made this forum a success too. Bowden is a moderator here and has earned that status.
How do you drive traffic to the forum?
What is the safety against bots?

Site owner, Pasquali, moderates. I've suggested he needs a couple of others. There is a mechanism on Inside Sport Forum 2 to state that one isn't a Bot. You need to join up, Zimbos, because if this forum folds, it could be too late. ATM I can only find the Inside Sport Forum 2 link on this thread and my own browser history. I'm pretty dumb with IT though.

Not sure whether NPL clubs have big enough forums or blogs for IS 2? Whether Reddit or Roar are avenues to recruit new members for Inside Sport 2, or whatever name it becomes, I don't know?

That's why I was hopeful that Muz had heard from the FTBL folks. If we can get some mods annointed it'd give that coverage and help out Bowden who does a great job.

A term so connected to the ethos of Australian football and by definition, something we aspire to, could add a bit of mystique about the place. Just going over the numerous podcast and twitter page names they're repetitive in theme being about down under, Roos or other typical terms. I don't mind green and gold as it's easy to identify and remember. I'm stumped for other names.

Wasn't there a podcast called studs up? Studs are other sports too but the idea of people debating is that the studs are going towards you. It'd be nice to recapture the old days when hundreds were on during games. Perhaps it's less about name and more about promotion and ease of access. Some whispers on social areas should get people having a sticky beak. 442 was always a good name. The change to inside sport was vague. Alas, forum traffic is way down but club specific forums around the world appear to be very strong.

Imagine if the FA created their own forum (would probably deter people being from them) yet I imagine black with a couple of historical sound bites then a white text on a black background with I told you so among other intriguing names.
People have very short attention spans and interest levels nowadays so it'd be more about interesting discussions, a continuation from what goes on here, anyway.

+x+xI'm interested. A few questions. How would you moderate? Some of us have been on here for decades and are the long term members. We held this forum together through just about everything. Ran multiple different things that made this forum a success too. Bowden is a moderator here and has earned that status. How do you drive traffic to the forum? What is the safety against bots? bowden should be given auto mod priveleges imo I agree with this wholeheartedly On the name side of things. I think it should be something that is relevant to the sport, but not comical. When I think about our history as a football nation, there are lots of ideal saying and such, but I think we have to look to our core, our identity. Obviously the green and gold stands out. Then there is Johnny Warren, Les Murray, TWG. They all seem to be identity, and strong one. I would like to propose something that's been our enemy, but also part of our identity. "The Curse"

+x+x+xI like the reference to the Green and Gold but not sure about FC. It's also worth remembering the Green and Gold Army used to have a football forum though last I looked it didn't exist. The other codes also play in green and gold so we need FC. People think round ball game when they see those two letters. *Ideally* we are as tight knit as a football club. I doubt the green and gold army forum carved out the same niche as we have. There is a sizeable community who want deeper discussions into our game. These people are spread everywhere. Unfortunately the forums are all bad. This one is probably the best one and it’s not even a football dedicated forum. I believe if it’s done right it will grow. Pacuali switched off the first site so as to improve it, now working on the front cover/page and new forum name incl when established. Thanks for the effort. It's a mental thing but it appears people will need to go to the effort to enter the respective categories and then the thread. I'm referring to how world football is dead among other forum sections. It's just another tab and like any interface or usage the more regularly you do it the more it becomes habit.
