Just looking for advice my son is 12 and an OK player but I would like to get him a good Australian DVD if possible that will help him with his football any suggestions.

Not a highlights DVD.

TBH dvds are not the answer mate. Sign your kid up to a decent football academy (depending on how serious you are), or just try to get as much football out of your kid. This can just as easily be done by signing him up to play in some indoor soccer teams, as most indoor centres run on various nights a week.

Look higher then club reps. Look into FEDs or sign him up to State league juniors Like Marconi or Sunderland Blacktown Demons etc. He'll have to trial to get a spot but once in he'll get all the guidance needed.

At 12 years old, just make sure the game is fun for him, give him a pair of boots, and let him go! I find my kids (same age) like motivational stuff like "Goal!" (1 is better than 2) and "Ginga!" (Brazilian street football). The training vids are pretty boring for kids.

I've had a look at that one and it looks the best so far I've seen but wondering are there any other suggestions.

My son isn't really that terrific that I want him in an academy he just wants to get better.

At the end of the day, D.V.D.'s will only give you so much...

As a few have suggested, academies and clinic's could be one way too go. You might have to put in a bit if he's, as you say, "Isn't really terrific."

If he's enjoying his Football, that's probably the primary concern at this stage, at the end of the day, he's still only twelve. :?

Fair enough...but I would seriously consider investigating the possibility of joining an indoor soccer team. Again, playing in a smaller space and less players around him will mean that his involvment will increase greatly and so should his touch and ball control.

I have this - http://www.sanity.com.au/product/product.asp?sku=2099507

It teaches you tricks basically. Its more for fun but also builds up skill and touch a lot. Is somewhat entertaining to watch too. Depends what you actually want him to develop I guess...

Dont waste time buying 'educational' dvds a shit load of them are american and crap. The best thing to do is to get your son to watch a lot of high quality football especcially players that he admires. You can learn A LOT from this.It can cause a huge impression his style of football by what team he watches alot.

But when youve mastered the skills and moves on the DVD youve got a bagful of tricks??? Trust me. I found it slightly helpful at least. More of an ideas tool than anything else.

The reason I quit there is because its absolute bullshit. It encourages repetition in a stable invironment, "the brazilian way" and tells you that this will make you a better footballer?!?

Yet they never teach you to incorporate this into a real life/game situation? The bullshit is no parents ever asked me this question but happiliy payed to see their kids learn the 'Ronaldinho' or the 'Zico'. #-o

Awesome. There are two DVDs - air and ground moves if you wanted to get another. Glad he likes it anyway.
