If it does prove to be true now though, Vuka is going to look like a right muppet.

A few of the Glory players re-tweeted him as well.

Not just Danny, Steven McGarry denied it on twitter too.

Would be funny if mainstream media did pick it up.

Pretty amateurish stuff from SST. They have Danny V and everyone else denying the story. Not too sure what they want. Maybe a signed Affidavit. Let it go SST, its ok to get it wrong.

ahh gotta love long pre season's hey.

I think the older boys will be loving the new glory, there is a new coach, new tactics, new training and new players. It will be like starting all over again for a lot of them.

OK. Now the attack dogs are out for SST. Who is the twat that runs the show that loves Sydney FC?

Mainly three guys. One is Tony Rallis the player agent, another is Chubba the WSW fan, and the third I can't remember the name. Ray Gatt also has a segment on the show called Gatty's corner. Rallis is usually the one who breaks the stories and for those of you interested he's also the agent of Risdon.

Risdon related or does he manage someone else????

Reading his page, he brought Sterjovski to Perth and probably instrumental in him leaving.

Good enough reason for him to get kicked to the kerb.

So, definitely true that a stuff up has our Round 1 match shifted to Adelaide now instead of Perth Oval?

(and I did read that Sage said this about 3 months ago, but it'd never been mentioned?)

News isn't quite 100% out yet it seems, but you could be right. From an article on Wellington having a fixture change - “The A-League draw is incredibly complex and the shift required Perth Glory having to move a date and time as well, so we’re pleased that the FFA and Fox has worked with the Club to get this over the line.”

I can't see any events yet listed at NIB on the same date though.

Glory win 3-1 against State League team in Call to Arms friendly match. Was a close match after an early goal for he State Team. In the second half McGarry scored a penalty to equalise.

Danny de Silva came on as a supersub and by all reports scored and absolute screamer of a goal late in the match to give Perth the lead and Makeche then scored to seal the deal.

SAGE CALLS FOR A BETTER DEAL

Perth Glory owner Tony Sage is seething that his club have been allocated back-to-back away games on four occasions during the 2013/14 A-League season. The release of fixtures for the coming summer last week confirmed daunting travel schedule for Glory. “It’s very difficult for any club in the west and the (Fremantle) Dockers and (West Coast) Eagles can tell you that,” Sage told the ‘West Australian’ newspaper. “We want one week at home and one week away, but that hasn’t been fulfilled. It never has since day one and this is season nine. The football department want it and the players want it so they’ve got consistency. That’s the way we’d like it but they (FFA) told us it’s almost impossible.”
Glory kicks off their season on 13 October with a home outing against Nullarbor neighbours Adelaide United. Sage said the game is likely to be moved to Subiaco Oval due to Perth Oval being unavailable on that date.
The majority of Glory’s home games will be played at night to avoid the heat of Perth’s summer. Glory will play only three afternoon home games, all in the opening rounds of the competition, with the remaining ten home games split between Friday (four) and Saturday (six) nights. “Our fans don’t want Sunday afternoon games, especially in the hot months, so we’re very happy that we’ve only got three and they’re very early,” Sage commented.

The 2013/14 A-League will not conclude until the first week of May, making it the latest finish of the competitions’ nine seasons. This has been done to allow for international break and bring the A-League closer into line with major European leagues, while also giving Australian-based players a better chance to make the Socceroos’ World Cup squad. FFA have also targeted key dates and public holidays for blockbuster fixtures during the Christmas/New Year period with 16 games to be played in just 18 days. Glory was their wish not to be drawn at home on Australia Day after fewer than 5,000 fans turned up for last year’s game Grand Final re-match with Brisbane Roar.

This I think was what I'd read.
Then according to tonight's news, the issue was that with further grounds works being done, the Management operators of Perth Oval don't recommence there management agreement/control of the ground until 14 October. Peoples apparently botched up contract dates, so they can't have the ground on the 13th. Not really an issue that the ground isn't ready, just one of messing up management dates. And it seems may have been known for quite some time?

I think he will start home games, away games on bench or won't travel. Unless exceptional form and Glory's ladder position dictates otherwise.

Edwards said he will continue where last season left off (utilised off the bench) a month or so ago.

He won't be starting, unless there are injuries, until later in the season (if at all this season) barring a sudden change in opinion by Edwards. All about protecting and developing him.

Round 1 has moved to Adelaide as pitch at NIB isn't ready
http://au.news.yahoo.com/thewest/sport/a/-/sport/18603240/glory-in-dilemma-over-state-of-pitch/

Also what was everyone's thoughts on the game vs state team last night?
I thought De Silva was brilliant when he came on - I beleive he is ready to start at attacking mid for us and offered a lot more than Ryan Edwards did there

I was quite dissapointed with the game though, I thought in general we looked rusty and sluggish, I couldn't determine any structure - we shouldn't be rusty at this stage of pre season considering we have played opposition in SA and Malaysia which you would assume would be tougher opponents than the state team.

However, credit to the state team they were very hard to break down and gave us a run for our money

1) As a sub, IF you can fit into the pace of the game it's much easier to have an impact... fresh vs tired legs and opposition has already got used to one dynamic then you provide a different one and they need to adjust. Having the same impact as a starting player would definitely not be given even based on that performance off the bench (remember that winger Caceras we had in the NSL? Awesome sub but a flop every game he started).

Da Silva for me should be starting the season as a sub, and if he does well enough he should be brought in to start a few games... and probably starting games particularly where we're expecting to dominate possession.

2) State League players are mid-late season so probably not that surprising they'd make Glory look rusty in comparison... a little worrying though, as Edwards's whole philosophy will presumably be about getting the structures right and the results will come (as opposed to Ferguson who was more a 'get your best players on the park and let them do the job' coach).

Another goal for Makeche is a good sign... how did he score this one?

Glory need two key players, fast.

They need Smeltz back quick smart as the forwards last night looked all at sea.

They also need a replacement for Miller. There was no on midfielder last night controlling the game.

There was lots of inter passing but there was no-one to take real control in midfield and deliver those killer passes to the striker at the pointy end.

Seemed much better in the second half.

Seeing Ljubo storm through the centre of the pitch was a joy to see. In fact, it appears all the CBs have been given licence to run forward with the ball.

Da Silva's goal was both cheeky and world class. Don't see him being able to be kept at the club for too long.

Ryan Edwards will be a liability this year. He has a short fuse (shorter than Burns by the looks) and he lashed out with a fist that luckily missed the target and was not seen bu either the ref or assistant.

Did not realise how much pace Glory now have in both defence and attack. Makeche could be very dangerous running off the last defender this season and Glory's backs were very quick to shut down.

They just need some more experience in the first two positions mentioned and they'll be contenders.

I don't think we ever really had anyone controlling the play centrally. Certainly not Miller. I thought our best games were when McGarry was pushed up and went through a good patch. He wasn't always brilliant there. Also towards the end I thought Cordoba was cleaning up the ball defensively and distributing it a lot quicker than anyone else, which really helped whoever was in the AM position. He was also more accurate with his longer passes that allowed the wingers to pull more defenders and opened more space for anyone centrally.

A good summation and I agree with this. Ryan Edwards - I saw that when he just started going mental and lashing out, and to be honest he didn't do anything special when he was on the ball either. De Silva's 20 minutes he offered way more and was controlling more then what R. Edwards offered in his 70 odd minutes.

We are a very quick and pacy side indeed. Our strikers didn't trouble their keeper much though, Maclaren looked sharp and quick but I didn't realise he was as short as he appeared in person. If Edwards wants the 4-2-3-1 formation, that 1 striker up front at the point needs to be somewhat tall, like your Smeltz or Mehmet mould.

I think we certainly need a like for like replacement for Miller, someone with that vision, creativity and composure. I wonder if the Brazilian Sciola can play there at attacking mid? Any news on him, is he in Brazil sorting his visa?

As mentioned before - I have full confidence in De Silva starting at attacking mid for us. He keeps the ball very well and doesnt make too many errors, has great distribution and is creative. I say start him against Heart and Sydney (if those pre season friendlies are going ahead) to see how he goes for 90 minutes against A-league opposition.

He may not have the physical stature to compete against men but his ball skills and attributes certainly make up for it.

Interesting input guys, good to follow as this pre-season enters the latter period - get a better idea of how this team shapes up. Thank you.

BTW, as a talking point - Am I right to suggest Glory and even Western Australia, but just sticking with Perth Glory, don't always get a 'fair deal' - in relation to their Eastern Cousins? I mean in terms of recognition, coverage and even 'sometimes' in practical ways, with the FFA or what not? I know Glory has lacked the success or what, but the 'Sydney-Melbourne bias' over there in the coverage and what not, just dominates or pervades and I know that's 'a given' generally, but just some times, I'd like to see Glory talked about a little more, or recognised, or some input via a source who ISN'T based in only Sydney or Melbourne! This is in terms of the 'A-League coverage' from Foxsports, TWG and even, dare I say, FFT?!

Glory dont get any recognition or coverage in our own state, AFL bias WA, let alone trying to get coverage over east

I think its understandable that we dont get enough coverage. Unless we are really successful the viewing numbers for the eastern states teams are far outweigh us over here in the West.

Maybe we need to make our own youtube show or something
