Yep, and going after Ljubo was a silly risk and was always going to be a gamble if not a disaster.

I don't buy into the whole "Ljubo was a risk" thing. He's a proven HAL CB (one of the best) and was a great return signing for Perth IMO. It wasn't his fault that he saw the Burns/Sage/Edwards thing unfolding, and when he brought it up as a problem no one would listen to him. And the club are quite clearly paying for the mess now, and still will be. None of it was Ljubo's fault.

Hey, that's one way to look at the situation.

I just find it difficult to read it that way because of Ljubo's priors.

Ljubo's priors, like a Jerks side run by Branko who was proven to be swindling money out of the club (see: Tinks, Jason Culina, etc) and Victory, a team run as a dictatorship by Kevin Muscat and his right hand man Vargas?

I can understand why a guy with a pic of 'Dare to Zlatan' would be taken with the 'Ljubo Individualism' that seems to come with the guy, and that's fine... Namaste that shit. But you can't deny the fact that drama follows the guy like an ongoing Channel 7 soap opera.

Well I struggle to understand why people think Ljubo is the wrecking train, when quite noticeably and proven(ly?) the clubs that he has left in the past have had such evident, awful problems that they are still dealing with today. Ljubo's biggest crime is trying to make the world a better place. Imagine if someone listened to him at Perth, and this entire Sage/Burns/Edwards thing didn't happen - how much would you prefer that?

Elsewhere, interesting news today from Shayne Hope that "Allia have terminated their stadium management contract with WA govt re nib Stadium" - now I wonder whether Tony's bad relations with the govt previous will stop him getting a foot in the door there with a different company (perhaps one of his own) or whether the Govt will just fob it off to someone only interested in getting more profit...

How do you know he saw the whole thing unfolding and brought it up as a problem? There were reports of training ground spats and the impression was that he had fallen out with everyone.

Test Test Test.

Seems I've missed most of the fun.

Ljubo logic is great. It's like Burns isn't a hacking thugs, opposition players and refs make him out like one.

Minister just indicated in Parliament that the State will run it now. Guess that means Venues West. Interestingly there is an outstanding claim of $1.3m for losses due to 2nd stage development (pitch replacement) and a residual payout under the heads of agreement which is likely to run into the millions of dollars.

Yes, apparently although Minister wouldn't comment further until he had received further advice due to commercial confidentiality

Here's praying Tana makes a play for Glory again.

No conflict of interest with Allia out of the picture now.

Hard to know with how WA runs things - may just have been an April fool's joke, and they were late on time again.

But surely can only be good for the club one hopes.
If the Govt has to spend a few dollars for football so be it, but I can still imagine them squirming at the thought, no money left in the budget, etc, etc, while channelling out 10 squillion in the Burswood direction.

Dunno about Tana again, he did leave the club in tumultuous circumstances, especially with Afkos.

He's not Sage so there's that.

How can Tana get such a massive compensation amount for the stadium redevelopment when Sage was complaining he was still being charged for the stadium and only got a few hundred thousand compo. The major construction was during Perth Glory's season.

Seems like the compensation and termination payments are based on previous years earnings. From what was said in Parliament, the termination payment of $8 million is based on the three years earnings when the stadium's revenue was maximised due to the construction of Perth Arena (ie it hosted concerts etc that are now held at the Arena).

No wonder Tana is getting out now before the base for the calculation of the termination payment decreases.

This government doesn't understand (or doesn't care about) allocation of risk. In this case, the taxpayer bears all.

Me thinks Aesop used Glory as the test case when writing about the boy who cried wolf.

Very hard to get excited when Glory say there's gonna be an announcement.
The pub talk last week before the game was:
1) Lowe's virtually a shoe-in for the job;
2) Smeltz has resigned (although resigned and resigned could be opposites); and
3) The club saying McGarry has also signed a new deal - when he actually has not at all.
Gossip, gossip, gossip.

An old story, but fitting for Glory to make a major announcement the day before the election.
When Glory were asked what it is, they replied:
"It's a big day when everyone votes".

Please buy a hyphen, Shanager. Resigned and resigned sound EXACTLY the same.

Here, have some for free: - - - - - - - - - - - - -

:P

When did the club "say" McGarry had a new deal? Could be Boo-urns becoming a player/coach next season.

New coach might be Welsh, according to Jason Brewer's twitter. I think. He tweeted something in a foreign language as a clue, I threw it into google and only one word translated, but the word ment 'whether' in Welsh. apparently.

TBH, he probably does have more than Sage does - Glory was described a little while back as the worst sporting franchise in the state to deal with by the state govt.

It's Cornish.

Means something along the lines of, Good Luck - lovely pint this Adam.
