oh and yeah, there's no excuses for not having the 'TBC' grounds sorted before releasing the schedules, since that was why they didn't release the info when the draw was announced.

Bayswater don't have lights so they can't play there, would take more than a week to sort an alternate venue.

now add Jordan Thurtell, per member email. Perth Glory CEO, Jason Brewer, congratulated Thurtell on signing his first professional contract and on joining Perth Glory. "It’s a huge step for Jordan to sign his first professional contract and it’s great to be able to attract such a talented young player like him to the Club. We continue to be focused on developing and attracting the best young West Australian and Australian players to Glory and in providing a pathway for the best young players to develop into A-League players and beyond.”... and the other young developing West Australian almost a done deal per the Worst, Richard Garcia. I for one will clearly not be expecting to be hearing Kenny moaning ever during this season about our youngsters letting us down. A quick rundown of the list gives a number of players you'd expect to be in the starting lineup. Not that anyone should be guaranteed a spot (yep, spent a decade there), but those who were recruited you'd assume may be thinking they were recruited for a reason, like maybe, gametime. Add 4 or 5 Glory regulars, and not too many spots left in the starting 11. Time will tell with this experienced lot:
Andy Keogh, Dino Djulbic, Ruben Zadkovich, Youssouf Hersi, Mitch Nichols, Danny Vukovic, Rostyn Griffiths, Michael Thwaite, Sidnei Sciola Moreas, Josh Risdon, Richard Garcia.
Diogo Ferreira, Daniel De Silva, Jack Clisby, Brandon O'Neill, Cameron Edwards, Nebojsa Marinkovich, Jamie Maclaren, Chris Harold, Scott Jamieson, Matthew Davies, Riley Woodcock, Harry O'Brien, Jack Duncan, Jordan Thurtell.
... and part of Simon Hill's World Cup reports on Fox ... and I can't help but think of Glory getting so much possession in matches over the past few seasons and just lacking so much pace. Do not know much about how much pace we've introduced with our signings for 2014/2015.
5. TICK-TOCK - TIKI-TAKA DEAD? Brazil was when father time caught up with Vicente del Bosque’s wonderful outfit. Nothing stays the same for long in the world game, and the possession-based football we all marvelled at, all of a sudden seemed slow, fragile and predictable. Exit Tiki-Taka - hello power ball. Teams which attack with lightning pace, and press high with dynamic energy have inherited the earth. However - gracias Espana.

Andy Keogh, - winger Dino Djulbic, - defender Ruben Zadkovich, - defensive mid Youssouf Hersi, - winger Mitch Nichols, - central mid Danny Vukovic, - keeper Rostyn Griffiths, - defensive mid Michael Thwaite, - defender Sidnei Sciola Moreas, - winger Josh Risdon, - wing back Richard Garcia. - old hack, previously a winger
Diogo Ferreira, - defensive mid Daniel De Silva, - #10, usually left right out, but when played, as a winger Jack Clisby, - defender Brandon O'Neill, - defensive mid Cameron Edwards, - defensive mid, but usually left right out Nebojsa Marinkovich, - #10, but likely left right out Jamie Maclaren, - second striker, winger Chris Harold, - winger Scott Jamieson, - wingback Matthew Davies, - wing back Riley Woodcock, - wing back Harry O'Brien, - winger Jack Duncan, - keeper Jordan Thurtell. - keeper
Nice squad balance there.

My 11 was not on positions, just age and experience and the fact they'd been recruited, presumably not to sit on the pine. I for one, like Marinkovich and think he can hit a ball, like Clisby, would love to see O'Neill get more time in his right position, think that Davies and Woodcock have done nothing wrong in their opportunities, and depending where Jamieson is with his recovery, he'd be hanging out to be back in the team. And all that before we even get to fitting in our Roma starlet. Going to be some interesting team selections this season, although still dependent on the usual minor leg ailments that strike our over 30 brigade at about week 6 or 7.

Hopefully Scott has recovered from his injury. Does anyone have any updates on him.
Bit of a waste if you were to put him as part of a back 3 but could work if you had a decent DM to drop back and cover him.

Begbie wrote:watch out for Grant Holt being announced. Who, another household name I've got to google - is it this right age bracket one from Norwich .... Norwich City legend, Grant holt faces an uncertain future at Wigan after being left behind during pre-season training as the 'Latics' first team head to Germany.
Holt left City last summer for a fee of around £2m and headed north to ply his trade closer to his family home. I don't think any of us begrudged him that but few wanted him to leave, among the City faithful.
Fast forward 12 months and his fortunes have changed. Social media suggests that many Wigan fans think they have bought a donkey and would be prepared to give him away.
Holty still has 2 years left at Wigan and is reportedly the highest wage at the DW. So much so, that the rumours are abounding that Wigan would consider letting him go for free to shift his huge salary.
Owen Coyle bought him and he was soon sacked. Use Rosler gave Holt plenty of chances and spoke about him initially as 'a focal point' to build his Wigan side around - Holt couldn't make it happen though and ended up moving on loan to Aston Villa in January where he made 7 appearances and scored just one goal.
What next for Grant Holt - bone fide Norwich City legend?

... close enough, we get the gist of it ...
Dear Member,
Well once again its great news. I can confirm that Richard Garcia has put pen to paper, on a one year deal, that will see the Socceroo play football for his hometown club this season. The squad just gets better and better and I can't wait for the season to start. Read all about this fantastic signing below.
Perth Glory is pleased to confirm the signing of former Socceroo Richard Garcia on a 2 year contract that will see the West Australian born player take to the pitch as a professional footballer in his hometown for the first time since departing as a 15 year old to go to West Ham United.

got my membership last night. Massive improvement from Glory in that respect.
You have to collect the actual pack itself (hat/scarf what ever else you get) from the ground within the first 3 games.
Only downside is no fridge magnet but they did mention that is because the fixtures were being changed around.

Quote:The proposed pre-season friendly match between Perth Glory and National Premier League WA club Perth SC tonight has been cancelled.
Glory chief executive Jason Brewer said authorities had refused to sanction the fixture due to the lighting at Perth SC’s Dorrien Gardens ground not being up to the required standard.
The club needs official sanctions for all matches for insurance reasons.
“You don’t just go and play a game – you have to get it sanctioned,” Brewer said.
“There’s a little bit more to it than just turning up and playing, particularly when you’ve got A-League players, with insurance and so on.
“The venue (Dorrien Gardens) hasn’t got the sufficient lighting there for us to play.”
Glory’s proposed pre-season trip to Malaysia this month has also been cancelled due to logistical reasons.
The club is in the process of confirming a small tour of the eastern states, including possible matches against Sydney Olympic and other former National Soccer League clubs.
Glory and Olympic are exploring a partnership that would involve the clubs sharing facilities and scouting networks.
Glory are also looking at playing matches against a WA State representative team and other NPL WA clubs.
There are several local grounds capable of hosting mid-week night matches, including NPL WA venues E&D Litis Stadium, Macedonia Park and Intiga Stadium.
Brewer said the new pre-season schedule would be confirmed within 48 hours.
Glory’s first competitive match of the 2014-15 season is a first-round FFA Cup tie away to Newcastle Jets on August 5. Sounds to me that when Brewer was saying, you can't just rock up, you need to have the place sanctioned, he was just repeating to the media what he had just learnt only minutes before.. Its not the biggest deal, but at the same time is a bit amateurish. Glad that the memberships are being dealt with though.

Agree. Although I don't wear club colours to games, both my kids do and it took my daughter half the season to save up for her (soon to be redundant) shirt. Maybe it is a combination of money making and shedding the reminders of the Edwards era?
