Sooooo after last night... I'm all in favour of DDS having a crack off the bench more often. Hard to fit both him and Hersi into the lineup though. Is Sciola injured or does Garcia just have the wood over him at the moment?

His impact as a starter is nullified somewhat, although he had a great game last night. Him and DDS coming on late and tearing it up like last night, would be a sight to see. Glory also have, Zadkovic & Harold to come back from injury and still have Davies/Woodcock as the wing backs and O'Neill/Ferreira as DM. Going to be hard to fit all those rounds pegs in square holes.

Interesting fact: With his 2 goals last night, Andy Keogh has moved into the Glory's top 10 goal scorers (excluding the NSL days) after only 6 appearances. Currently level with Robbie Fowler and Travis Dodd on 9 goals. http://www.aleaguestats.com/ALeagueStats_6PerthGlory.html#TopTwentyGoalScorers

Players actually looked to give DDS the ball for once... well in extra time at least. Hope they find some trust in the kid now as from my viewing of him previously seems them avoid him at all costs. Great goal though, had a feeling he might get a good chance and he did

I'd rather Hersi off the bench to be honest. I haven't seen much from him yet in our set up that I've liked. Loved him at WSW, but I think he's better off in a 3 man front line with Keogh and Sciola, but Kenny won't play that (and rightfully so, his plan is working so far). Also, lets talk formation... Fox Sports keep showing a 433, which we clearly aren't playing, but I'm 100% confident that we are playing a 442 with a flat midfield, NOT a diamond, despite always having a natural DM and CAM on the pitch. Nichols is playing as deep as Griffiths.

Griffiths is definitely playing as a screening midfielder who is breaking up play when not in possession rather than offering much when we are attacking.

So against A-League opponents, Glory has played 5 games for 4 wins and a loss so far this season in all comps. They have scored 11 goals in those 5 games with Keogh netting 8 times in all wins. Keogh has scored 9 goals in 6 Cup/HAL games this season (8 in 5 v HAL opponents). Glory have now made the semis of the FFA Cup and sit 5th, 1 point off first place in the League. This has far exceeded my expectations at this stage of the season. The only worrying thing is the defence has leaked goals on a regular basis. In the games against HAL opponents, there have been 7 goals conceded in 5 games with one clean sheet. For once that concerns me. Of those 7 goals, 3 have been long range strikes. 2 last night and the other against the Roar. The Finkler FK was Vuko's error as he stepped to the right just as it was taken and beaten at the left post. The other two have been with defenders standing off and not shutting them down. I don't know if that is a result of players not doing their bit in defence or a directive from Kenny to not allow players into the area. Comments?

Comments? Well, it is better to have them taking hit and hopes from 30 than let them into the box. But overall, I'm thrilled that we're scoring prolifically, and more thrilled that we aren't dropping out heads when we concede. We've dug ourselves out of holes twice against good opposition.

Really thought that kit from last night was horrid. The colour combination can work, but that pattern was ugly.

Comments? When Melbourne scored their 2nd goal last night, it got me wondering if Danny Vukovich has a particular weakness when it comes to long shots. Both goals we conceded last night were from outside the box, plus Henrique's (great) shot last weekend. I don't have stats on where goals were scored from (inside vs outside the box), but I wonder whether we're conceding noticeably more than the average amount from outside the area.

Hopefully we avoid Adelaide in the semis, they bossed us last game. Looking real strong.
Expecting a win over Newcastle.

So what happens when Keogh gets injured or Sage lets him walk out the door after Christmas when a bigger club comes sniffing?

Comments? In his defence, he stepped to the right because the wall wouldn't f@cking listen and take another step across to get beyond the right hand post.

Eastern Glory wrote:Sooooo after last night... I'm all in favour of DDS having a crack off the bench more often. Hard to fit both him and Hersi into the lineup though. Is Sciola injured or does Garcia just have the wood over him at the moment? Well that's the thing - the squad on paper and in reality, it would have to take an injury crisis for DDS to get a shot and the time-frame for he to have an opportunity is only 2-3 months before he leaves. Atleast he featured AND impacted (Match-winner) last night, makes a few important people take notice! But same old noises from Lowe again, post-game - and basically pointing out how he 'never sees him due to his being away on NT duty all the time', and how 'he's still young, needs to be protected' ... yardy, yarda. http://www.fourfourtwo.com/au/news/lowe-not-carried-away-de-silvas-fairytale-jobYeah, let's not get carried away, let's not get carried away soo far that he's back in the NYL. Keep him nice and wrapped up in that cotton-wool, all ready for his long trip to Roma. Don't want to damage their purchase! Nice find petszk! I guess just shows how long-suffering Glory have been, in-regards to striking talent at the club since the A-League. The line of shockers we've had upfront is a long one! Heck, I'll give it a crack, the list of illustrious notables, the who's who: Hon. Brian Deane Neil Taggart Mate Dragicević Eugene Dadi - One season of good form! Shane Smeltz - Ala Dadi! But wait, there's still more! Brankooo Jelic Mile Sterjovski Robbie Fowler McBreen via loan Billy Mehmet Sernas (Watch-winner on debut and... that was as good as it got) I guess the stocks improved significantly from a low base, but so many of even the more productive talents were just one-season wonders, and that not all the fault of the club's either. Just disappointing outputs. Though letting Mehmet go was still a disappointment for some. Dadi, Jelic, Smeltz - they all had disappointing second or final seasons and left the club in a relative whimper. Smeltz seems to be our most successful from that list, with two dougle-digit seasons. It's curious too, that Ruka and Smeltz aside, Glory have largely lacked a double-digit goal-scorer in a season. So surely Keogh is the man to deliver there too. ^^ You do talk some rubbish sometimes - McBreen was fantastic when on loan at Glory 5 goals in 7 games; Billy Mehmet was a key player in Glory's run to the grand final, scored some key goals and made quite a few others as a target man. Was and still am sorry that Mehmet was released especially as we got nothing out of Smeltz afterwards.

Mehmet/McGarry combo got Glory places. Smeltz was a match winner on his day, but his NZ service during the 2010 WC seemed to break him and was not the same.

@HR - pleased of course with the start. Keogh has been brilliant, Nicholls very good and I think these two have really lifted the rest in attack. Our movement forward has also been helped by getting Jamo and to a lesser extent Risdon back. Both have been very good (at times).
As for Kenny, he's done well to get them very fit, which helps, esp early in the season. Our attacking play is pretty disjointed at times, but it (usually) involves a lot of forward (rather than lateral) passing and positive intent which is good. Our defensive press is another good feature, although I think it still needs quite a bit of work (players are over committing at times and leaving us exposed). We've won games we could have easily drawn or even lost, but Adelaide aside, we've been competitive in most games, so no need to get too carried away, but we should take some heart from what we've seen so far.

Lumping loanee McBreen with the rest in that list may be questionable, but when you list them, you really see the mixed calibre - Infact until Dadi, Glory's record with strikers in the A-League was certainly poor! So overall, the record not so flash and that's why we appreciate Keogh's form so much. McBreen had a good record, but was end of the day, only a loanee and left straight back for that other club - The fact you two celebrate his stint just speaks volumes as to how slender Glory's pickings have been in that department! The loanee our best striker?! And the timing of Mehmet was all the worse due to Smeltz's downturn/injuries. Just bad timing I guess, but was still unusual we let him go so early. Our striking stocks went from soo deep to slender, not too long after that point. Edited by GloryPerth: 31/10/2014 06:18:22 AM

So with Miller being released from Roar, would you want to see him back?
I personally would take him back right away depending on wage demands of course.
I also think we should go for Taggart on a season long loan, would be lethal next to Keogh
