Here's my guess why no bad words........

Money always buys silence.

So Tony Sage bribes people to keep quiet?

Why, do you think he bribes people?

It would probably be a confidential severance package.

Happens all the time in business, why not here?????

Just like asking people to re apply for there jobs after contracts run out, especially when job is moving between 2 separate business's ?

So, he gets a team to the GF, loses and gets the sack.

It has Glory written all over it.

Most of what you post is right on but defending the effective sacking of a league winning coach is way off the mark mate.

I'm making the point here about buisness practice, and the ludicrous suggestion that nobody that leaves Glory speaks ill of Tony Sage because Sage pays them .

clearly the job should have been Harnwell's if he wanted it, but I see the attraction of any buisness to advertise positions to find the best candidate. How often have fans complained about jobs for the boys at Glory? One thing we do know is that Jamie's role with the W Team was incorporated with in his existing role at football west. Maybe Glory like the idea of the same being at Glory where as a current employee takes the role within there current employment and at no additional cost.

Glory had an ex-club legend coaching a team to the GF (legitimately no less).

Ticks all the boxes in trying to reconnect with fans.

Club legend, GF.

Way to go to disenfranchise a club legend. You know things are fucked when he starts slagging off at the club.

Someone must be reading from the book How to Fuck up a Football Club for Dummies, they're doing a fantastic job, even in the off season now.

At least last off-season there was optimism, rebuilding, positive news, happy times.

None of that now, just one bad news story to the next.

I have not seen one positive story (to me) in the paper or issued by the club. Just spin and slogans.

And unfortunately as long as there are people who continue stick they're heads in the sand and renew memberships based on the clubs propaganda, the status-quo will remain. What really upsets me is that I think there has been permanent damage done to the club now (in terms of image, fans who now refuse to attend, ability to attract top players). If the unthinkable happens and we manage to mount a title challenge I still don't think the support will be there that possibly could have had all of this drama not happened. A real shame imo

I've followed the club for years now (was about 8 when I went to the GF vs Wollongong), but the last few months have really tested my loyalty.

It pains me to say things like this because I still consider myself a supporter of the club (more-so the players than the club these days), but if you say something critical you are labelled a 'lesser fan' for not supporting the club when times are difficult. How are things meant to change if you are continually excusing them after every f uck up?? /endrant

Could not agree more.

I am a long term supporter of the club. Attended the very first game v UTS Olympic back in October 1996.

As long as it continues to be mismanaged I will rightly voice my concerns.

Please do, you must plenty of spare time to go trawling through 12 months old posts just to prove you are right. Knock your socks off.

Don't forget to dig out my December prediction too. Shame it was a few months early.

Didn't last season turn into a ray of sunshine after all my negative posts.

Oh, I must be the problem, all my negative vibes.

Agree with Perth Red about reasons to lose faith and the reason that the 'bitter' Glory fans are still on this forum is because in their heart they want Glory to do well.

But the frequent f*** ups (many of which are easy to foresee) make it hard to support the owner and staff involved. We would like change, and hope that Sage can deliver that, but we seem to be afflicted with problems that often boil down to a lack of a well funded professional admin/backroom that can make sensible decisions both on and off the field.

Some are just more tolerant than others I suppose. I am still in the middle, and hope that Sage can fund/get/allow the right mix of people to help out, but I am also concerned that people involved in recent conflict and turmoil and who appear to have big egos and big mouths such as J Burns are running things and am also concerned when a good news story like having Harnwell as the women's coach is dumped, allegedly soley due to the need to have due process. It smells a bit of due process being wheeled out to prevent something that is obviously fine (for a personal reason?), but jobs for the boys where it is most damaging (eg J Burns, and to some extent, K Lowe (who went through a process, but the recommendations of experts were ignored).

I guess I am not aware of the schisms that exist in WA football, but surely there must be a way to run things that create a bit more cohesion within the club, the fans and within the broader WA football community.

So, room for improvement IMO.

Hotrod was alot more positive or less cynical, in his earlier days on this forum and I would know, as we've both been about this forum since 2008 - which incidentally is circa the time Sage and his consortium had taken charge, or Sage had become sole owner by that time (Can't remember now)?

After what has transgressed at Glory over the years - fans certainly appreciate how Sage revived Glory to a certain level, brought back some ambition and optimism. What a turn-around from the difficult early years in the A-League and FFA Administration! But one thing after another, I guess it builds up and it reflects in the critiques from long-term fans like Hot Rod, Perth Red and many here. I don't think we all just attack Sage, but many hope the management of the club can improve further, especially given all these stumbles. Last season was amongst the worst in a way, as it was just when things had seemed to have turned a genuine corner - maybe Lowe was coming good, the squad coming good, finally challenging for the top, the side in some great consistent form. That rug was pulled out from under, a cap scandal from left field. Like a sucker-punch, it was as if nothing could go our/Glory's way, or be done out this way without some kind of unforeseen negative outcome like this latest one. Fans often advise or see better practice from clubs over East, so ofcourse it's frustrating for fans to see the constant issues and some cynicism develops.

PerthRed wrote:

=d>

Also, atleast current fans, including all you guys, have stayed through not the best times - Glory's A-League existence isn't the same as it's NSL-era, so it certainly tests loyalty - the fact soo many fans, members, are still about is a testament and we can be thankful of that, as 'apathy' is the real killer and that's what many of the loyal fans really fear as the casuals and those who care a bit less - instead of critiquing, actively protesting and communicating their displeasure including supporter groups in dialogue with the club - they just turn away and do something else. There is a phrase along the lines of how hard it is to win over support, but how easy it can be to lose it. That's the concern I guess and relates to word-of-mouth and 'reputation', the same which can affect any business.

I relent, Nick Meredith one of the better ones too.

ABC news Perth tonight reported that Andy Keogh is overseas and does not want to play for Glory. Other Australian clubs are said to be interested in signing him.

Well that's quite disappointing, but I guess, given the nature of his controversial contract that helped get Glory into that cap mess, perhaps it's not surprising. Still bizarre he wasn't just signed up as Marquee in the first place. :?

Hopefully, perhaps, ABC News is off on this one, or, it's a long pre-season and Keogh cools down after a relaxed break overseas to re-charge and he and the club come to a new agreement? After all that's gone on and the player departures - the work arounds Glory did to sign him on in the first place, you think there would be some goodwill to work it out, on that level? :-k

You were right Biscuitman, Keogh out of here. I guess, sadly, it shouldn't be a surprise.

He may've been good, but Glory couldn't afford him within the cap, nor, it seems, did he want to remain with the club, on a re-negotiated deal that was within it. So I concur - good riddance. He's hardly the only fish in the sea - it's back on Lowe and co to scout well for good quality replacement, who brings that good bang, but for a 'within the cap' buck.

No, well I hadn't, but lol thanks for that - though to be fair, all things considered with Glory's reputation for Twitter hashtags and slogans, in that scheme of things, it's not that bad really. :p Infact, if one is to copy any campaign, copying one of that ilk isn't too bad an idea, even if, as you joke, the match-up an interesting contrast.

So apparently we are preparing a bid for Tomi Juric...

"Meanwhile, Ryan’s Socceroos teammate, Tomi Juric, is likely to be offered the chance to return to the A-League, two months after he quit the Wanderers in search of a European deal.

Perth are believed to be preparing a bid for the striker, in the wake of Any Keogh’s departure."

http://www.dailytelegraph.com.au/sport/football/socceroos-goalkeeper-mat-ryan-leaves-belgium-for-la-liga-big-guns-valencia/story-fni2fopz-1227450486469

Would absolutely love to see him in a Glory shirt, but can't see it happening considering he left WSW for Europe
I would think it would have to be a big money deal as Aus marquee to have any chance

Would absolutely love to see him in a Glory shirt, but can't see it happening considering he left WSW for Europe

Not bad.

Is a gettable signing on marquee wages

Hilarious. Sage beating his chest, with no risk that he will actually have to stump up the cash that would be required for Juric to even consider stepping back to the A League, let alone to us.

Edit: @scotty, not having a go at you (although I disagree) posted at the same time as you.

Look on the bright side of life. At least you're offering him a trial. He could fail said trial, and go back to semi-obscurity in the NPL. At least you haven't signed him fresh off the bat from failing in the Scottish lower leagues, because he's Frank Farina's nephew (or some relation).

Haha imagine if we sign him. Would have to be the biggest downgrade ever. Going from Jamieson, probably the best LB in the league, to the might of Marc

Obviously the need for a striker is dire. I reckon Billy Konstantinidis would be worth a trial.
