Chianese is playing for Sabah who started the season ok, but now sit 7th of 12 teams. There last 9 matches read: 1 draw, 8 losses, goals for - 9, goals against - 25. Yikes, why would you leave that?
Right... So he's playing for a shitty team in the 2nd division?

Scott Jamieson was pretty shitty at Shitty. He turned out OK for Glory. Chianese is a good age, similar to Maclaren. Willing to wait and see.

Is it concerning that we've had a lack of pre-season games? We've had no where near the amount of games we played last year in pre season and it seems as though all other clubs are playing way more pre-season games than us

On the up side they do have competitive FFA Cup games, not kick and giggles.

We haven't had any friendlies at all against A-League opposition... It will be a good gauge to see where we're at when we play the Wanderers next up

Quote:http://www.fourfourtwo.com/au/news/glory-linked-uk-based-aussie-duoGlory linked with UK-based Aussie duoPerth Glory have been linked with a move to bring England-based young Aussie duo James Demetriou and Giancarlo Gallifuoco to the A-League. Striker Demetriou is on the books with Swansea City while centre back and midfielder Gallufiuoco is currently a free agent. Gallifuoco, who was in Tottenham’s youth team with Massimo Luongo, was released by Swansea at the end of last season. FourFourTwo understands the Glory have made enquiries about the pair joining them for the 2015/2016 season. Gallifuoco is a 21-year-old Olyroo from Sydney who has also played for Australia at Under-17 and Under-20 level. The versatile player has trialled with Bradford City and Millwall in recent weeks. Demetriou is a Sydney Olympic junior who first moved to the UK with Nottingham Forest. The 20-year-old has played for Swansea’s Under-21s, representing Cyprus at youth international level, and recently attracted interest from Sydney FC and Adelaide United. Perth has only 19 players on their books for the upcoming campaign, according to its website, after several departures following their salary cap breach. The Glory has so far brought in nine new players with 10 exiting from the 2014/2015 squad. SST believe "he's not lost to the a-league" though...if he joins another a-league team I'll be even more disappointed. Rather him stay in Europe. Also hasn't Epifano been trialling with us for a while now? No news?

Garcia is captain.
New home lot ditches the two tone look, flat purple, crazy collar.

Teal keepers kit. Black panels on the shoulder, collar like the away kit.
Away kit remains he same.

I don't understand how Garcia can even get a start if our starting 11 are fit. Surely Fernandez, Castro and Harold should all be infront of him. Don't want captain slow in our already slow midfield either. Don't understand this move.

Thwaite kicked up a shit last year so had the armband taken off him Dino is a bit of a hot head/maybe doesn't want it. Risdon is probably too young to gain the respect of other players. Other outsiders would be: Zadkovich, currently battling injury/not see to much game time? Marinkovich, could have been a choice. So slim pickings.

If the starting 11 is fit surely the vice captain will be the acting captain most of the time. Won't be surprised if Thwaite gets vice.

Had a quick look at the stats for last season, which I'm reading as saying Garcia was subbed off 11 times (!) during the season, plus subbed on a further 5 times. And I think an unused sub another time or two. That is not the type of player that could possibly be selected to provide leadership as a Captain. But another year on, may be he's got better and picked up the pace. Repeating myself, but if last season any indication, a completely illogical and wasted choice that makes no sense at all.

Yep - you don't pick up the pace at the age of 34. Hopefully, just figurehead only and won't change his role in team which should be sub/squad if starting XI are all available.

I don't like how aggressive he gets with refs though. Maybe if he'd become captain he would sort this out. I have nothing wrong with him disagreeing with the ref and letting him know but always seems to be on the verge of a yellow for descent everytime he does it. Puts me on edge. Good to see passion, but just tone it down a little.

I suspect it's just this. And as Hotrod outlined - there isn't a great many options out there, once Thwaite out of the picture. Dino may be better left to his natural leadership, tactical leadership on the field, without the added responsibility of the figure-head, media presence etc... or 'just yet' anyway? :-k Garcia has been captain at his previous clubs like Hull IIRC, is vastly experienced and a proud local product - this could be his final season, so why not? It doesn't necessarily dictate selection and Dino would be in the leadership group anyway, possible VC? In a season or two's time, maybe a Risdon ready, Marinkovic, Djulbic, if any of them still here? Last season Glory had experience and candidates everywhere and if anything is a legacy of the Cap Scandal, then it's losing all that established quality of Vuka (Captained at times), Griffiths (Would've been a prime candidate), Jamieson and co.
