This morning was a momentous occasion on the Gold Coast as Pacific Pines U13 div 2 duked it out with Southport for the 3rd time this season to eventually run out 2-1 winners. Stifler, affectionatly known as Tristan, was pivotal to the Pine's scoring both goals in the first half and dropping back to help the defense against a surging Southport in the 2nd.
StiflersMom was drafted as a lineswoman and notes there was No sign of GazGoldCoast at this event. In both his other meetings (4-4 and 2-4 To Southport) Gaz graced the sidelines.
Unfortunately this will be the last time this season the 2 sides will meet as Pine's are languishing at the bottom of the table with virtually no hope of making the top 4.

The Guys from Pacific Pines are on a roll winning 3 of their last 4, the latest against 3rd place Murwillumbah with Tristan scoring one and setting up another in the thrilling come from behind 4-3 win. Calib was man of the match with a brace and Mark the workhorse of the team chipped in with the 4th. Tristan has now 6 goals from the last 4 games helping the team off the bottom of the ladder.
The real test is still to come as Pines must face the table top two in the final 4 weeks of competition. It's early days but a top 4 finish is mathimatically possible for the early season easy beats.
Go PINES!

Edited by StiflersMom: 20/7/2009 07:02:55 AM Hey I was there! You should have come and said hello! Well done Pac Pines. Our Southport Div 2 boys crumbled to Coomera yesterday, 2-2 halftime then 2-7 blowout second half, we'll now be struggling for top four too. Div 3 has just been a mad scramble to get 11 kids on the pitch all season, we had four U11s helping us out at Croatian Club sat. Sigh...

Yeah, sorry about that mate - our club has been in a shocking state. I probably would have been running the line myself but I didn't get there till half time coz I was at my other boys game. Would have been nice for some of our parents to grab a flag, but the ones who've made an effort are already sick of things... Too much politics, too much focus on the seniors, not enough focus on building a real football club community. Might have something to do with why you beat us!
I'm hoping the arrival of the Gold Coast United Youth Team (see my blog today) is a sign of change on the horizon.
How did you guys go against Magic? Our boys play them tomorrow, and like you we'll be hoping to overtake them for a top 4 finish.

Magic we lost - Jack Walbanks in the midfield is the key, he is about the largest on their team, easy to spot, the most gifted ( I was his first every coach ), keep him away from the box or anywhere near it and the rest of the team is average. They drew on the weekend meaning a few wins and we can catch them.

Unfortunately half our team is hit with flu - this could be a challenge! Thanks for the tip!
BTW as I remember the Pac Pines game at your place started 1/2 hr late, which really messed me around. I thought I could watch the first half then rush of to my Div 3 game, but when I got there the refs were already on the field and everyone was waiting for the coach (me) to arrive with the shirts! So we are not the only club with a few issues... LOL!

The fairy tale continues, Pines pull out all stops and gave comp leaders Kingscliff a real shake today, Tristan opened the scoring for Pines in a game that had everything. Fantastic support from the mums and dads and not one boring minute. Leading 2-1 with 6 to go Kingscliff drew level with a long range worm burner catching a sleeping keeper off guard. End result a well earned 2-2 draw.
Go Pines.=d>

Sorry mate we didn't do you any favours! Southport were leading Magic 2-1 with 5 mins to go when they drew level from a penalty where the young ref said it was handball in the box but our boy swears it was off his stomach. Oh well...
Very exciting for Magic parents as they scored the winning goal way, way, way into injury time and then the ref blew the final whistle - 3-2 Magic. Our boys should have put it away, they certainly had their chances. Well done Magic. =d> =d>
And yes, that #6 knows his stuff. Good luck catching them, Pines.. I think that's our season done. :-({|= :-({|= :-({|=
