Newcastle really isn't as bad as you think. I've been to Launceston a few times and I'm not surprised haha.
There a couple of shit areas in Newcastle but there's a fuck load of expensive areas as well. And the shit areas in Newcastle probably aren't very highly populated compared to places like Bankstown so I'm sure that would have had something to do with it as well.
