So just to reiterate...I haven't 'lived' until I've sat on my couch for four and a half hours staring at a plastic box. Yeah...no.

And yes, I read the books. They cut out plenty of things. There's HEAPS of pointless dialogue and walking that could have been cut out. You could cut that movie down to half the length if Peter Jackson wasn't such an immense wanker.

Funny thing is, I didn't actually mean to type that. I meant to use 'actually' but 'literally' popped into my head for some reason. Oh well, #yolo.

True story, the extended editions are brilliant. Add even more background and character development. They're probably only better to the people who have read the book and loved it, as I have. Almost like they're just a bonus to LotR fanatics.


And you may have been able to cut a lot out, but it would've removed a lot of stuff that was necessary for it to be such a good trilogy. Without all that dialogue, a lot of characters would never have been fully developed and wouldn't have been as easy to emotionally connect to.

I hate it when people use it completely stupidly, like "Omg I'm literally dying". No bitch, you aren't, but the English language is.

This. You need some of that "pointless" stuff to make it a story.
