This. Always easier in hindsight, but honesty really is the best policy. High school can seem like living under a microscope with such a small community, but really you'll only see a couple of people from high school ever again (and that's if you're trying.) Know how many girls who turned me down in high school remember me? Neither do I, because I've never seen them again. Did it affect me in high school? Only because I imagined people cared. No-one did. If you want more than friendship, lay it on the table early so it doesn't undermine your relationship. If it's not mutual, you can assess whether you are OK with platonic friendship or going separate ways. Opening up to people is gut-wrenching, especially with social anxiety, but in the end it is healthier for you long term (and will actually lead to finding someone.)

In the lead up to a date, all you should consume is like 6 gummy bears, and some Scotch.

Don't think of it as a date, don't think of it as movie and chill, just think of it as going to the movies with friends innocent as that

While the problem isn't that I don't think she likes the real me or that I'm not being myself (I've been my true self and all the girls I've chatted with seem to like it), thanks for reminding me to keep that in mind.

I'm more concerned that she'll see me asking if she wants to see Mockingjay with me as me asking her out. I'll try and be as casual about it as possible.

Talking to one of them right now, I'll see how the conversation goes and see if I get the opportunity to ask her.

Be careful asking her to the movies, I understand you are nervous and that is fine. But if you are panicking or over thinking how to ask her to the movies think about how nervous you will be at the movies or spending time with her.

No point rushing this stuff man you are still young. Keep chatting with her for a while and become comfortable talking with her, then progress the conversation along the lines of "we should hang out soon, Any movies you really want to see"

Take your time man.

Really you just need to consider the worst case scenario/s and realise that they aren't that bad.

Either her thinking it's asking her out and is not keen:

You: I'm going to go see Mockingjay, want to come with?
Her: As a date? I don't really see you in that way
You: Not at all! We're friends, I'd just enjoy seeing it with you. If you're not interested in the movie no big deal.

...or thinking you're asking her out, is keen and you aren't. Which is a bit more fiddly as she might not actually mention it as such in conversation, but if it comes up later just talk through it. It'll 100% be OK.

I guess you're right. I think we've got a lesson together tomorrow so I can ask her then, so if she thinks I'm asking her out on a date I can just assure her that it's not in that way, so it'll be less awkward then me asking her if she wants to see it with me and her just not responding :lol:

Right now I'm trying to plot out all the ways this conversation could go so I can be prepared and that's getting me fucking nowhere. I need to grow a god damn pair. I might be busy at lunch, so if I can't ask her during lunch, I'll just bite the bullet and ask her on messenger.
