My twin sister and I are going to Melbourne for our birthday to shop and we want to stay in a hotel for 2 nights.

Like I'd get my mum to ring up with her credit card, tell them etc. photocopy her ID if they need that.

It depends how much you're willing to spend. Urban central is pretty good. Right across the road from crown and a maccas so you're set for food and entertainment if you get bored (there's a cinema there etc). Alternatively Crown Promenade will set you back about $220 a night IIRC and you're willing to spend a wee bit more.

There's also the Pensione Hotel on the other side of the river. A little more expensive than Urban, but still good to stay at.

You shouldn't have any trouble booking rooms at any of those.

They're mostly serviced apartments and 5 star hotels. A little out of S_F's budget.

The serviced apartments are quite nice if you're going to be down for a full week though. And you're right near all the cafes et al in Richmond.

Probably the best cheap accomodation in Australia. There's also the nightclub out the back...Industry bar over the road, Fusion and Odeon above crown, Lagerfield just up the road...so plenty of places to hang out and drink.

The only problem is the occasional crass Irishman but that's a small price to pay.

Raaage, Urban Central is booked out for the cheap rooms for the dates I want. It'll be at least $115 a night there now.
