Well, you started off with New Caledonia getting a spot ahead of say a Tasmania or Wollongong team in the A-League, and you finished it off by stating that there will be no salary cap in the B-League....

Yeah, ludicrous.

I am man enough to say that basing a team out of Joondalup, and having them fly to Auckland, Tasmania, and god knows where else every second week, to be paid for by 3-5k people coming in the gate and NO SPONSORS (as the Glory struggle enough and would soak up all the best ones) will not work.

Mate, I don't have to prove shit, you're the one trying to convince us it would work.

Until you can categorically prove to me that this would work, with financial and market analysis to back it up, then I'm not required to give you my support whatsoever.

a-league sides need 4-10 million yearly depending on the side.

They get 2 million worth of cash from ffa, the rest is their.s

B-League to cost around 2-6 million for the clubs.

They get 1 million from ffa thats is from tv and corporates, then the clubs can definately come up with the rest through crowds and their own sponsors.

half the cost half the crowds simple it works? doesnt it?

No cap because these clubs have less budgets if they wana spend on 2 marquee's let them do so, they need all the help they can get when wanting to pull big crowds for a b-league

I'm not going to bother dissecting your 'analysis' (I use this term very loosely) of A-League finances, because frankly, your results are unfounded and consist solely on hearsay and conjecture.

PAOKTZI wrote:

What happens when they are then promoted? What do they then do with these two marquee players, when they're only allowed one in the A-League?

Sydney is way over represented in this model. The B-League should replicate the A-League in that there should be a second team from each major/regional city to add real competition to the marketplace (except the really small markets - like Central Coast).

There is no reason why there can't be a second semi-professional team in the Hunter, Gold Coast, Canberra, etc.

A second team in each existing A-League city should be a priority above giving teams to regions like Darwin who might not even be able to support one team with an attendance of more than 5,000.

Under you model, the A-League could potentially migrate to Sydney/Melbourne which is very dangerous for its viability as a national competition. Maximum of 3 Sydney teams represented in both A-League and B-League is enough.

New Caledonia won't get a team for a long time, let alone the next expansion round. Tasmania, South Coast, Darwin all deserve one ahead of them.

Also, Brisbane Roar are struggling to field one team with crowds hitting as low as 6.6K, another one, Brisbane City, based right where the current one is will end in absolute failure.

This is the same case as Adelaide United. ATM, they are struggling and are under FFA control. I just cannot see good numbers coming in for Adelaide MetroStars, where they will also be based at Hindmarsh.

Perth SC? God no. Perth Glory get woeful crowds when their team is bottom of the A-League. ANOTHER Perth team in the B-LEAGUE will be poorly supported.

Auckland United will not work. We tried Auckland in the A-league and they were getting crowds as low as 1K. Why would the same team in a second tier competition get 4 times more? Yes maybe football in NZ has taken off recently, with World Cup qualification and Wellington going reasonably but this is being way too optimistic. I think definitely a new team in New Zealand but not in Auckland. Christchurch?

Sutherland Sharks? Um, is that a joke? It has got to be.

Sydney Olympic, Sydney United and South Melbourne, I have great doubts about. By then, we will already have two teams based in these cities and I don't think the FFA will be overly thrilled with the idea.

Only ones I would say yes to from that list would be South Coast, Darwin and Tasmania. Also, is everyone really for old NSL/Premier League teams entering the league. I for one, would only like to see the very best of the old NSL teams. Even then I don't know.

I would like to see this, but down the track:

A-League

Sydney FC
Sydney Rovers FC
Melbourne Victory
Melbourne Heart
Brisbane Roar
Adelaide United
Perth Glory
Central Coast Mariners
Newcastle Jets
Wellington Phoenix
Gold Coast United
North Queensland Fury
Canberra United
South Coast FC

B-League

Tasmania United
Northern Territory FC
Country Victoria (Bendigo, Ballarat)
Gippsland United
Carins
Christchurch
Geelong
Coffs Harbour/Northern NSW

IMO, this would make football in Australian truly Australian. We would see sport in areas that have never been seen.

New Caledonia, are you drunk of your fucking tits!!!!

Since when did the A-League turn into the O-League...

Once you bring in a kiwi team, everyone wants a bite of the Apple.

Lets just merge the A-League and CSL then shall we.

How the hell am I being "racist"?

I am Italian, and you would've also seen that I did not also include any Italian clubs, Marconi, Apia Liechardt. Does that now mean that I do not respect my heritage just because I have chosen brand new model teams for a brand new model league? I respect the influence all foreigners has had on this country. Without these foreigners Australia would not be Australia. Australia would not be good at sports. Australia would not be a good country. Like the FFA, and I am sure like many people in Australia, want to see football in Australia branched out into as many areas as possible. The areas I have chosen as potential B-League teams really would make football in Australia national, and these areas have healthy populations. You would've also seen I said "DOWN THE TRACK". When football in Australia is as strong as other football codes. When support is immense.

Your and absolute idiot.

This is the basis of the New Cali team http://player.sbs.com.au/twg#/twg_08/ALeague/A-LeagueNews/playlist/A-League-Pacific-Plan/

You are quite right though, it will never happen, unless of course it gets us votes for the World Cup and somebody offers to pay for it, in which case, hello tropical island weekends for away matches. I reckon I'd even convince my wife to go to that away match. Repeat though, it will never happen.
