Spanish giants set to give United more defensive problems

Real Madrid have made Nemanja Vidic a top transfer target
By GMF Editor December 29, 2009

Madrid already have an abundance of attacking talent Real Madrid are lining up a move for central defender Nemanja Vidic as one of their major summer signings, according to Madrid-based daily Marca.

Madrid already have an abundance of attacking talent with the likes of Christiano Ronaldo and Kaka and are now thought to be interested in strengthening their defence with Vidic their top target.

According to the Spanish press the Serbian international is unhappy with life in England and at Old Trafford and is looking for a move away from Manchester United.

However, Red Devil's manager Sir Alex Ferguson is very reluctant to let Vidic leave Old Trafford especially with their current defensive problems and Rio Ferdinand’s battle to overcome a back injury.

Relations between the two clubs are already poor since the sale of Cristiano Ronaldo from United to Madrid in the summer after the player revealed his desire to leave the club.

Nemanja Vidic signed for United in 2006 for a transfer fee in the region of around £7 million and has since become recognised as one of the best defenders in the Premier League and in Europe.
