+x-----------------------------birrizanis galloway------windybitch----------dellbitch-------jameison -------------------------------brillante nobody cabrera luna --------------------maclaren---------------------berenguer looks like the old 4-1-1-1-3 How does this line up align though with City’s states aim to develop younger players? It will need to offer opportunities for players like Metcalfe Najjarine, Najjar and Genreau if they have any chance of making money from their investment here.

I was really impressed with Metcalfe at the end of last season, also Najjarine too, so I hope the youngsters do get their chance to make an impression. No doubt they might get a shot in the cup so they’ll need to perform then.

Did I hear Brenton Speed mention in the FFA cup commentary last night that City will soon have a new number 2 to replace Birraz? Someone who can push and possibly take the number 1 position from Bouzanis.
Any rumours who that could be? He said expect to hear something soon.

+xnoone is going to be great this season Maybe. Kept trying to beat his man by just pushing it past him and using pace. It didn't really work and it certianly won't against A-League fullbacks. Obviously got his goal but again the keeper hesitated and dove late. The ball did swerve a bit to be fair but feel it POSSIBLY would have been saved by another keeper or on another night. He did look positive though and it;s early in the pre-season and to be fair maybe he kept trying to use his pace so one dimensionally coz they identified slow full backs or something.

Last nights game confirmed something that I have always sort of known. Berenguer is atrocious. Honestly, how can genreau not get a game in front of that clown. He is beyond useless

+xany other new from the game? who else looked good? was brillante a single pivot? I'll be honest I did spend a lot of the time chatting and noticed Noone a lot 1st half just coz I was standing so close to where he was positionally. I didn't have a great view of the midfield which was pretty scrappy for the most part. Maclaren looked isolated for a lot of the game and didn't get many touches, but he got two goals. I guess that's what he does. City looked in 2nd gear all night frankly so it was hard to really assess their quality. They seemed pretty content to absorb a lot of the time and didn't look overly proactive but again, they were probably pretty happy to conserve their energy knowing they had the quality to win. Campbelltown had a big chance to get back to 2-2 with a header that flashed just wide that should have been scored and would have made things very interesting because I do think City were starting to tire and were taking their time with goal kicks etc. The 3rd was just a result of Campbelltown having everyone forward for the last 5-10 minutes.

thanks for the run down davide! i'd like to see one of the younger keepers given a run. but it would be a shame to see them wasted away on the bench. the aus season just does not have enough games to get everyone the minutes. they must not rate bouzanis. i think he's more than good enough for the a league.

glover is a good signing. a back up to bouzanis with an opportunity to take the spot if he gets it together. he's 21 with only 4 pro games to his name. we really need a second division.

i hope this is bullshit. i want nothing to do with this turd. https://www.goal.com/en-au/news/live/a-league-and-australian-football-news-live-berisha-linked/t6ofzaz0olnlzf9jkxhcqbwmwe have backups. we don't need a retiree age import to do a job our young aus players can manage.

What a ridiculously over the top reaction. He would be a fantastic bench option for the last 20 minutes.

Roar and MV definitely the most active. MC defintely not the least active though: CCM - 18 pages - https://forum.insidesport.com.au/1015632/TheMightyCentralCoastMarinersSupportersThread201213ChampionsJETS - 27 pages - https://forum.insidesport.com.au/789331/Newcastle-Jerks-Supporters-240208NIX - 21 Pages - https://forum.insidesport.com.au/1188202/OfficialWellingtonPhoenixSupportersThread

I’d say most City fans use their forum to discuss, much more user friendly than 442 I’ve found.
I usually come to 442 for more generic a-league news, but even now Reddit has become a good option too.

As a Melbourne City supporter it's much more enjoyable using the City forum rather than dealing with comments like kaufusi has posted above.

+xWhat a ridiculously over the top reaction. He would be a fantastic bench option for the last 20 minutes. understated if anything. what is the point of hoarding the best youth in the country if we are just going to bring in burnt out foreign players to do a job they could. plus. PLUS. berisha is a cnut on field.
