Eager too see how this season pans out. On FFA cup form it looks like we have ditched the boring style of play in seasons past. If city have any chance of bringing crowds back it has to play attractive football. Also they have done a 10 year anniversary jersey (heart colours) would be good too see it at the christmas derby.

That's a great deal, and smart by the club to really push membership numbers up just before the start of the season. Likely would have had quite a few people who were on the fence about it, but couldn't justify the cost, changing their minds and signing up. I'd be bloody annoyed if I had signed up the day before (or any time prior, really) and paid full price.
Would be very interesting to hear how it worked for them.

Heads up for any City fans planning to travel for the Away game vs Brisbane a week on Sunday.
BRFC are advising the game is forecast to sell out with less than 2,000 tickets of the 10k capacity remaining for sale.

Just an observation from a trip on the train today, where a couple of guys got into a conversation about football.
Both City fans living in the western suburbs, but one feeling like he has a strong interest in Western United. I have heard it a fair bit out here, with many wanting to stay loyal to City but having some pull towards Western United as they represent the west.
How does City combat this? If Western United do strengthen their overall appeal, especially once they eventually move to Tarneit, the risk is increased that some of those who call themselves City fans now may well feel a stronger connection to the new club.
I know of quite a few fans from the Heart days that certainly have a rather loose connection these days.

I know of quite a few fans from the Heart days that certainly have a rather loose connection these days. I just think we need to win the league or championship to be honest. I think specifically Melbourne sport fans have this about them. Hate to look at other codes but it showed with Richmond. Their numbers in memberships and crowds were a lot lower to what they're now since they won and have been contenders ever since. Now everyone is going. On the flip side, Victory's numbers haven't been as strong as they are usually this season, both in attendance and memberships. Victory's three home games have been fairly low to their standard. Joyce's time really damaged our club, the only way back I believe, is if we start delivering and either winning trophies or at least contending for them every, if not, most seasons. Like Sydney FC and Victory. I'm a fan from the beginning of the Heart days, but I wasn't actually effected by the City Group takeover. I didn't mind and actually was supportive of it and no I'm not Manchester City fan. I've been attending through the many bad years, including still having a membership when I lived overseas for Joyce's last season, but I think this is with every club. You have the loyal ones who no matter what will be there and pay for memberships every year, then casual fans who only come when the club doing well and winning.

City are from the Northern suburbs of Melbourne so, they can draw upon fans there, therefore, that person you overheard, follows City as a point of difference to Victory. His heart will tell him to follow Western Utd cause its a true representation of where he is actually situated.

His heart will tell him to follow Western Utd cause its a true representation of where he is actually situated. Given that City are based in the northern suburbs, I do think that they should be trying harder to push a message of geographical differentiation, but is currently mainly just trying to be something to all. I’m in the western suburbs but connected to the club in the Heart days, mainly because I had never really felt like Victory was the club I wanted to support (Muscat and Merrick really weren’t something to connect with). I unfortunately think many that followed Heart lost their connection when City took over though, for various reasons.
Both City and Victory have got a fairly broad focus, but I do feel that City would be better off focusing its efforts on finding some differentiation, whether geographical or some other thing that can capture the hearts and minds of potential fans.

Heart were on life support and City group, off their own bat, came in and turned City into a powerhouse at the bank.

Full trophy cabinet (but yours looks a bit empty) ! Reigning BACK2BACK 442 A League and World Cup (Mens and Womens) Tipping Champion - so yeap, I do know best !

Who's heading along tomorrow ? I am keen to get there early to hopefully see the W league squad get another win, then maybe see the men get back to some form. Still interested to see if there are any improvements defensively. I assume Delbridge will be back. Also might be a chance to see the new signing, maybe he will come off the bench.

+xFree family general admission pass to Melbourne City v Brisbang Roar Brisbang is better. Should be a great game now that supercoach Fowler is getting the best out of his team. There's O'Shea (0 goals in 17 games), AA-H (1 goal in 14), DWH (1 goal in 12) and you can watch Aldred hit 10ft sideways passes all night. Roar have scored 2 more goals than the Mariners this season after all. Can't believe they're giving tickets away.

well this is shit. finally we get a decent manager. and he's going to get taken off to the next cfg pet project. https://theworldgame.sbs.com.au/mombaerts-linked-with-shock-switch-to-nancyhttps://www.getfootballnewsfrance.com/2020/as-nancy-to-be-sold-to-city-football-group-for-e12m-to-e18m-erick-mombaerts-as-manager/i want an australian coach this time. SBS have linked Ufuk Talay. generally i don't think it's a good idea for managers to be jumping across clubs in the a-league when they are doing well with their pet project. more often than not it flops. it's pretty much a side step. as a city fan i'd like to have him on board. as an australian football fan i'd like to see him see out his project a bit longer. knowing cfg, there wont be any actual news until the new manager turns up.
