Haven't played FM in a while, so I fired up a game and started with Lewes in the English Blue Square PL South. We're doing "above expectations" sitting in mid table switching between 9th and 12th on a regular basis. Looking to can 5 or 6 players and bring in a few more attacking options. Brought in a CB on a Free Transfer, a Paki called Shabir Kahn. He's decent but might be an injury worry. Hoping to bring in 2 new attackers and a couple of midfielders.
WOLLONGONG WOLVES FOR A-LEAGUE EXPANSION!

I hate Arsenal so much. No matter what I do, Andre Ayew and Carlos Fierro play like beasts against me.

Couldn't be bothered waiting to be offered a job. Loaded a new game with all UK and Irish leagues loaded. Took over Havant & Waterlooville. I had a decent game with them in 09 (I think it was 09) so decided to go back to them.
Clearing out the squad may take a while. There's a lot of deadwood, especially in the youth team. Might just release all of the youth players, there are absoulutely no promising or even remotely decent players amongst them.

God I love South America. Picked this guy up while at Sydney FC where he averaged 7.68. Brought him to PSV with me where he averaged 7.31 last season. He's somehow still only got 2 apps for World Champions Colombia Edited by sydneycroatia58: 26/4/2012 08:22:02 PM

Just lost in the FA Trophy 5th round (last 8)... 3-0 at half-time, against the team in mid-table a division below us (we're 1st in Blue Square Premier), and we end up losing 3-4. fuck off.

Holidayed through most of the first season, just to see what happens, get some squads changing etc. Applied for a couple of jobs near the end of the season, but got rejected by Foggia in Serie C1/B, Beijing, and Golden Arrows . Just applied for a batch more, Morelia in Mexico, Sydney, Heart and New York. Will see who get back to me.

Have you gone on holiday indefinitely? Set it to apply to all jobs and return when you've got an offer.

MaxiiGCU wrote:Have you gone on holiday indefinitely? Set it to apply to all jobs and return when you've got an offer. Nah, I holidayed 6/7 months just to get it out of the way, and then just looked around to see what was available, holidaying every few days. Came down to Morelia and Heart offering me a job. Decided to go with Morelia, never managed in the America's before, so Mexico should be fun. Can someone explain to me how the Mexican league works...8-[

Funky Munky wrote:Can someone explain to me how the Mexican league works...8-[ From what I understand it's the same as Argentina with a 'season open' and 'season close', but instead of just finishing there, the top 8 teams go into playoffs. There's a great Forum based story on FM scout of a guy who went to mexico. Quite lulzy. Edited by afromanGT: 26/4/2012 11:15:44 PM

Might just release all of the youth players, there are absoulutely no promising or even remotely decent players amongst them. Pre-season went well. Brought in four players on free transfers, including Thomas Lyskov and Cherno Samba. Seven games into the season, I'm top of the league by three points. I've won six and drawn one. Results so far have been 5-0, 7-2, 2-1, 1-1, 2-0, 4-2, 2-0. As you can see I have no trouble scoring goals. My two frontmen have combined for twelve of them, one of them taking eight with three assists and the other four goals with four assists. Samba has scored four from the right wing, also contributing two assists. Edited by MaxiiGCU: 27/4/2012 10:58:43 AM

My last 4 games have been thus: v Rotherham: Otamendi s/o 10' v Arsenal: Renan s/o 15' v Ipswich: Papadopolous s/o 13' v Everton: Brown s/o 82'
And now v Chelsea, Filipe s/o 12'.
WTF, FM? I'm set to 'light' tackling, I'm training defensive positioning...what the FUCK can I do?

Signed a promising young Dutch lad to play back-up for me from Ajax for 2m.
2013-14 11 apps, 1 goal 2014-15 15 apps, 2 goals. Fans are getting impatient with him. 2015-16 26 apps, 14 goals. 2016-17 15 apps, 20 goals.
There are few things better than seeing that persistence rewarded.

Division Blue Square Premier (2nd Season) Season 2018/2019 Expectations Safe Mid-Table Finish 1st. Season 8 complete. Finished 1st on 100 points. We started strongly and hit the top 4 after 5 games. By the 15th game we were 1st and never surrendered that position. The closest we came was in the dying part of the season where we started dropping points. Luckily Wrexham, our rivals kept doing the same. Our title was confirmed when they dropped a last minute goal to lose 2-1 to Telford when the draw would have kept them in the hunt until the final day. Yet again Justin Ramos and Shaun Waters were our best performers. Ramos scored 32 goals, 14 assists and a 7.48 rating, with Waters picking up 24 goals, 20 assists and a 7.44 rating. Both are likely winners of the player of the year award. We brought in 7 players over the year, with 3 leaving on free transfers during having left their non-contract positions for part-time positions and me not giving a shit. One left after crying about game-time. Financially we kept our usual pre-season friendly tournament income, and again I did not request training facility upgrades. I know they would cost somewhere in the order of 3.5 million and didn't want to wipe out our funds. We're just under £3 million right now, I expect to be at £4 million by the start of the season. Our FA Cup run ended in the first game again. The FA Trophy, which I wanted to win, ended in ridiculous circumstances as we went ahead 3-0 to Eastbourne Borough (mid-table in Blue Square South) at Half-Time, only for their half-time team talk to turn the match around completely. They turned into Brazil and put four unanswered to knock us out in the fourth round. The squad will require some investment, there are positions which will need to be improved to play in League Two. The wing is one that especially needs help. My creative central midfielder is leaving on a free transfer to Bohemians after he refused to accept a new deal. A positive is that I have what could be described as a surprise packet, a DM who can play CB or MC, but is now worth 190k and performed brilliantly in the latter half of the season. Some staff will require re-signing or replacement. I look forward to the continued improvements in my players as we jump up to professional level. Upwards and onwards.

Having a good start with Morelia. Club was already qualified for the Champs League, and have a fairly good squad, only needed a couple of additions. The boards expectation is that I reach the Champions League Final, so I don't think I'll be spending long in Mexico, whatever happens :p
Funnily enough, they literally don't care what I do in the league. Because it has the playoff's, the boards expectations are tailored towards it being a cup tournaments. So they expect me to reach the Opening/Closing stage of the competition. Imagine if an A-Leagues club's expectation was to reach the regular season. By playing a game, I've met the boards expectations

Post-Season Update The board have announced plans for a new stadium.
It will have an 8,684 capacity.
It will cost £7.75m, offset by £825,000 for selling our current stadium, a £250,000 5 year sponsorship deal, and a £3.09m grant presumably from a government organisation. All up, it will cost the club just about £4,000,000. It is not being covered by a loan, but instead it was bought outright. It has meant we will go into League 2 with a shockingly small budget. We will be lucky to get back to break even by the time the season starts.
Well, it was always going to happen. Our current stadium was already at max capacity, that capacity was small and facilities poor.
As always, the downside is that we will be stuck in this stadium for 20 years. I can only hope it has a large expansion capacity because 8,600 is not big enough for League 1, let alone the Championship and the Premiership.

currently playing as pro Vercelli in Serie C1/B. Found my first season really weird as it is an 18 team league with 2 teams going up and down but there are promotion and demotion play-offs. There is one automatic at each end and there 4 teams in the play-offs. that means there are only 8 teams in the middle. The league was very competitive and I was 5th-6th for most of the season before going on a bad run at the end and fell very close to relegation play-offs before getting 2 wins and a draw in my last 3 games.

From memory though, in Serie C, if 2nd is far enough ahead of 3rd, they just cancel the playoffs and they go straight through. Interesting way to do it.
