once Eastern Pride/Morwell Falcons busted what occured with the team? Does Morwell Pegasus have any link to the club? Who are Falcons 2000?

Falcons 2000 are virtually Falcons re-born but without the financial backing of DiFabrizio and DiSipio. The are very much an amateur club and without owning the facility they will struggle to get out of the Gippsland Soccer League.

Morwell Pegasus are a club located about 1-2km from the Falcons Stadium, they were originally a Maltese club but since they moved from the GSL to to State Leagues that has dissolved. Currently they play State 2S/E and could push for promotion to State 1, they boast a few ex-NSL players from the Falcons days.
Unfortunately the clubs junior program was neglected once they moved Leagues and in 2009 they had 1 team playing in the GSL that was regularly beaten by 20+ goals.....a far cry from the club that produced John Hutchinson and 3 or 4 others who played for Falcons/Pride in the NSL.
Rumour had it that they were interested in leasing the Falcons Stadium if they were promoted to State 1, this may happen in the future if the continue their climb up the divisions.

Soccer to stay
BY CATHERINE SWEENEY

THE new owners of the Latrobe City Sports Stadium in Morwell have declared they will work to restore the sporting ground to its ``former glory'' and explore other ways to use the precinct.
A private consortium made up of Australian Football League legend Glenn Archer and Darren Matthews, who once owned the Traralgon Indoor Sports Centre in the 1990s, has bought the stadium in Crinigan Road after months of negotiations with the previous owner.

``Firstly, we saw an opportunity to put something back into grassroots sport,'' Mr Matthews said.

``It evolved into more of an understanding of the region but also the passion people had for the venue - we didn't realise how much it meant to people.''

Falcons 2000 Soccer Club president Tony Salvatore said the deal was a huge relief after uncertainty surrounded the club's future at the stadium during negotiations of the terms of their lease last year.

``It allows us to focus on the junior and senior teams ... we can put our energy back in to the teams rather than negotiating a place to stay. This gives us the opportunity to plan for next year too, 2011 is our 50 year anniversary,'' Mr Salvatore said.

Mr Matthews said he was happy to have the soccer club as anchor tenants.

``We are going through the process of all the things that need to be upgraded and trying to bring it back to its former glory and then we hope to have further interest from other sporting clubs or from locals who believe they could utilise it,'' he said.

Settlement is due to take place in February.

Very surprised it sold as it is in massive need of an overhaul, everything has been rotting away since Eastern Pride imploded. Only positive is that the pitch has been restored to a quality surface and will hopefully host either MV or Heart in a pre-season friendly.
