Decided to put this in grass roots to avoid any hassle about whether it's Australian football or not... South Melbourne ran a relatively small 5-a-side tournament over the weekend, the SMFC Corporate Cup. http://www.smfc.com.au/news/839/ibm-clinches-smfc-corporate-challenge-cup/I was wondering if any A-League sides have run similar tournaments, and if not - why not? This is an excellent opportunity to bring further corporate interest into the game, and potentially to form closer links between the franchises and the communities - and that's how you turn a franchise into a club. It's sad if the only clubs interested in this kind of thing are the state leaguers... And if the A-League sides are doing this - are they doing enough to publicise it? I'd imagine that if SMFC can get 12 corporate sides into a tournament, Victory (or Heart) should be able to get far more.
