Harry Redknapp wants to give Heurelho Gomes competition so he'll enrol him in the local cubs' sponsored swim. Some of the cubs have their 200m badges so it could be tough. If that doesn't sharpen the keeper up, Harry will also sign Reading goalkeeper Adam Federici for £2m.

Anyone else heard this rumour??

Redknapp keeping an eye on £2million Federici

Reading goalkeeper Adam Federici is a £2million target for Tottenham after revealing he is ready to quit the Madejski Stadium to play in the Premier League.

Spurs boss Harry Redknapp is lining up Australian international Federici, 24, as competition for Heurelho Gomes.

Federici, who attracted interest from Liverpool in January, said: "I want to play in the Premier League and I believe I will one day – whether it is with Reading or somewhere else.

"There has been a fair bit of interest from all over the place."

where does this rumour come from?? the transfer window is shut and there are no direct quotes? but yes i had noticed it on newsnow G-Star, but rubbished it.

Fed is better off playing regularly at reading, who are doing a bit better in the championship now anyway. at spurs he'd be 3rd choice which is far from ideal. keep playing son.

fed is better off not playing for tottenham full stop, all they do is buy quality players and then ruin thier promising careers, take giovanni dos santos or roman pavlyuchenko for example

i think moving to a top half prem side is a bridge too far for him. don't mind players being ambitious, but if it's at the expense of playing time, then better off with a modest team in the prem and work your way up (just like Mark Schwarzer did). not lose years of development sitting on the pine watching hacks like Gomes strut his stuff (although if Fed were to make the move, i think he could easily challenge for the no.1 spot for tottenham).

Fed is only in his mid twenties, so realistically has another 12+ seasons in him. no need to rush. but ideally, i would like to see him in the prem next year (playing regularly), it would take his game to another level. we've seen glimpses of him taking it up a notch against Manu (first match anyway), Liverpool etc
