Quote:Frenzy over NASA announcement NewsCore From: NewsCore December 02, 2010 A MYSTERIOUS NASA press release has sent shockwaves through the scientific community. The press release hints scientists have new revelations on the existence of extraterrestrial life. It announces an event, set for Thursday at 2pm ET, to discuss "an astrobiology finding that will impact the search for evidence of extraterrestrial life. Astrobiology is the study of the origin, evolution, distribution and future of life in the universe." The reality may be less dramatic than the discovery of alien life, though it is still intriguing: Based on the background of the four conference participants NASA cites, the announcement will probably concern lifeforms that live off of poisonous arsenic. Popular blogger Jason Kottke and others have concluded that the announcement will tie into the quest for life on Saturn's largest moon, Titan. "I'd say that they've discovered arsenic on Titan and maybe even detected chemical evidence of bacteria utilising it for photosynthesis," Kottke said, a hypothesis short of actually confirming alien life. Despite the hype and rumours, Phil Plait of Discover Magazine urged rational calm, noting that an announcement of the discovery of extraterrestrial life "seems really unlikely." Plait called overreactions par for the course, citing a June press release about the lack of acetlyne in Titan's atmosphere "that sparked vast speculation." "Even though the press release was clear enough, it was misleadingly reported as NASA finding signs of life on Titan," Plait noted. http://www.heraldsun.com.au/lifestyle/the-other-side/frenzy-over-nasa-announcement/story-e6frfhk6-1225964342227

Quote:Hills alive with UFOs Chelsea White From: The Daily Telegraph December 07, 2010 A PROSPECTOR who went to find gold in the hills thinks he may have found something better - evidence that aliens really do exist. Adam Cainero believes he captured a photograph of an alien spacecraft hovering above an escarpment near Majors Creek, in the Southern Tablelands near Braidwood. After an unsuccessful weekend fossicking for gold Mr Cainero and a friend were making the long trip home when he stopped to take a snap of the steep mountain they had driven down. When he got home, Mr Cainero said he realised he had found gold of another kind after all. "I just took a picture of the mountain range and the sun was in my eyes so I just kind of pointed and shot," Mr Cainero said. "Then we looked at the picture - we were, like, no way." With its shape and its position in the sky, Mr Cainero said he immediately knew the black object was a UFO. "We always see really weird things as we go out to places where there is no one around," he said. There had been talk among fossickers about UFOs being in the area, he said. "A lot of people I know who go into the bush reckon they have seen one," Mr Cainero said. Earlier this year The Daily Telegraph revealed the suburbs around Gosford, on the Central Coast, were the state's biggest hot spot when it came to UFO sightings, with dozens of cases reported every year. Each month people turn up to meetings to share their UFO experiences. The region was the scene of one of Australia's most baffling UFO cases - a series of sightings in 1995 and 1996 - reported by police and many other credible witnesses. Residents saw shiny UFOs hovering above water. http://www.dailytelegraph.com.au/news/hills-alive-with-ufos/story-e6freuy9-1225966798646

Quote:Naked man arrested in Mississippi cemetery says he was just trying to photograph spirits From: AP December 14, 2010 A man caught naked in a south Mississippi, US church cemetery says he was trying to take photographs of spirits. Robert Hurst told The Picayune Item newspaper that he shed his clothes because he believes skin is the best canvas to show spirits' orbs of energy. The 47-year-old said he only intended to remove his shirt, but he took off all his clothes - a move he now calls "stupid." Authorities had set up a motion-activated camera to try to catch vandals. Shane Tucker, the chief deputy in Pearl River County, said Mr Hurst was not accused of vandalism, but the camera caught an unexpected image of Mr Hurst naked. Mr Hurst faces a misdemeanour charge of indecent exposure. He posted US $500 bond after turning himself in Friday. http://www.heraldsun.com.au/lifestyle/the-other-side/naked-man-arrested-in-mississippi-cemetery-says-he-was-just-trying-to-photograph-spirits/story-e6frfhk6-1225970724658

Quote:New Zealand military releases UFO files From: AFP December 22, 2010 7 THE New Zealand military has released hundreds of previously classified reports detailing claims of unidentified flying object sightings and alien encounters. The reports, dating from 1954 to 2009, were released today under freedom of information laws after the New Zealand Defence Force removed names and other identifying material. In about 2000 pages of documents, members of the public, military personnel and commercial pilots outline close encounters, mostly involving moving lights in the sky. Some of the accounts include drawings of flying saucers, descriptions of aliens wearing "pharaoh masks" and alleged examples of extraterrestrial writing. Before their release, Air Force squadron leader Kavae Tamariki said the Defence Force did not have the resources to investigate UFO sightings and would not be commenting on the files' contents. "We've just been a collection point for the information. We don't investigate or make reports, we haven't substantiated anything in them," he told the Dominion Post. One of the most comprehensive files concerns two sightings of strange lights off the South Island town of Kaikoura in 1978, one of which was captured by a television crew aboard a plane in the area. The incident made international headlines at the time, but a contemporary Air Force report found it could be explained by natural phenomena such as lights from boats being reflected off clouds or an unusual view of the planet Venus. The original documents on which the reports released today were based will remain sealed in the national archive, some until 2080. http://www.adelaidenow.com.au/news/breaking-news/new-zealand-military-releases-ufo-files/story-e6frea73-1225975158491

Quote:Series of strange orange light reported in Victoria Staff writers From: Herald Sun December 25, 2010 VICTORIAN residents reported seeing strange lights in the sky last night. A man in East Keilor reported seeing orange lights that formed a diamond and moved in a synchronised pattern to the west of Melbourne Airport at about 10.15pm. A woman in Warburton had a similar experience 45 minutes later. David Bekesi, 52, said he had just stepped out for a cigarette when he saw the series of orange lights. Mr Bekesi has seen all kinds of aircraft fly over his house heading to nearby Melbourne Airport, but said this was like nothing he had ever seen before. He said the lights stayed in the sky for number of minutes before moving higher up and disappearing. “They all grouped in one area and then went straight up into the sky,” he said. Did you see strange lights last night? Tell us below. No noise accompanied the lights as they moved about at around the same height a helicopter would normally travel, according to Mr Bekesi. Did you take pics of the strange lights? Email them to sundayhs@heraldsun.com.auWarburton resident Kathy Lee was looking out of her window to check on her horse when she noticed a series of white and orange lights in the sky above Mt Victoria. “It was unbelievable. It was a bit like Christmas decorations at first, but I have grabbed my binoculars and watched it for ages,” she said. The lights remained in sight for about 20 minutes before disappearing behind the mountain, she said. The lights appeared to make out a barrel shape and were too large to be stars, according to Ms Lee. “A series of lights were going around and flickering,” she said. “And then it went on its side and it looked exactly like a flying saucer.” Ms Lee said she was certain it wasn’t a plane or a balloon. “It was clear as anything. Shaped like a barrel with lights going around the top and there were lights around its middle and more at the bottom,” she said. “It was definitely not a plane because as I was going inside I heard a plane going over and this made no sound. “And it definitely wasn’t a balloon - I saw it go sideways.” Ms Lee said the object appeared to be as large as her palm. http://www.heraldsun.com.au/news/victoria/series-of-strange-orange-light-reported-in-victoria/story-e6frf7kx-1225976053170

Quote:Picton haunted hunters are ghost busted Vikki Campion Urban Affairs Reporter From: The Daily Telegraph January 05, 2011 PICTON is world famous for being a hive of supernatural activity, but it is now in mortal danger of becoming a different type of ghost town. Business leaders in the rural community, southwest of Sydney, are mourning the death of the town's ghost tours after the local shire council forced the closure of the popular attraction. The business was forced to shut its doors after residents complained the tours attracted hooligans who trespassed, threw eggs at houses, screamed late at night and did burnouts in their cars. Seven people lost their jobs and the Picton Chamber of Commerce fears more could be at risk with petrol stations, restaurants and motels directly affected. "It's an absolute farce, I am bewildered that any minority group can force a business out," chamber president Karl Klein said. "The [problems] have nothing to do with people who go on the tours, it's other galahs out there." Without the tours, Picton's history, identity and culture stood to be lost, Mr Klein said. Angry residents have unleashed their fury online, warning that, without the structured ghost hunts team, people from "all over the place will do their own ghost hunts and they will cause no end of dramas for residents". Operator John Vincent, husband of the late historian and tour founder Liz Vincent, yesterday said he was shattered to be forced to close after a decade of hard work. He said the council had a "callous disregard" for his wife's legacy after she started the tours 13 years ago, taking diners around the town and telling them its stories. "Liz loved Picton and would be similarly frustrated and disappointed at the negative and narrow attitude of Wollondilly Shire Council staff," Mr Vincent said. "What took years of hard work to establish and nurture has taken very little time to dismantle - to be replaced by nothing." Council requirements slapped on the tours meant they were no longer viable, with conditions restricting access, the number of visits and the number of participants while increasing council fees. Tour supporter and Wollondilly Mayor Michael Banasik said he was trying to hold further talks with Mr Vincent to find a better solution. He said council had tried every option to support the tours, including spending $20,000 on security upgrades, but that they had to follow legal advice, which forces the Ghost Hunts to apply for a DA. http://www.dailytelegraph.com.au/news/picton-haunted-hunters-are-ghost-busted/story-e6freuy9-1225981967544

Quote:UFO 'a US spy plane' DAVID WOOD THE Coconut Grove UFO sighting last week of a black flying triangle with lights on its side may have been a not-so-secret US government spy aircraft, another witness of lights in the Darwin sky says. Peter McVean said he was out with his dog "wetting a line" when he saw four evenly-spaced noiseless lights in the sky off the East Arm pontoon about 8.45pm on Boxing Day. "The first two were spaced exactly the same distance apart as the last two but there was slightly larger distance between the first pair and the following pair." He said they disappeared for a while as it was overcast. After about seven seconds they disappeared over the horizon just forward of the Wickham plant. "There was no noise," Mr McVean said."I just saw what I saw. I am not saying it was a UFO." Did you see anything strange in the sky? Melbourne residents reported seeing strange lights in similar "triangular-shaped" arrangements near the Melbourne Airport about 10.15pm on Christmas Eve, according to the Herald Sun. Witnesses reported seeing "orange lights that formed a diamond and moved in a synchronised pattern". Resident David Bekesi, 52, said the lights were visible for several minutes before disappearing. A man in Rockingham, Western Australia, also recorded footage of a triangle-shaped object with lights on its sides and posted it on YouTube last Wednesday night, December 22. Mr McVean said, however, last week's Coconut Grove sighting had the hallmarks of the "US military's worst kept secrets" black aircraft production. These are aircraft projects not acknowledged publicly by the US government or military. The NT News was also contacted by another witness, Maryanne, who said she heard something strange at her Humpty Doo home, in Darwin's rural area, about 2am last Wednesday. "It was a noise like a whirring noise," she said. "I heard it come down, I thought 'Wow, that's low'. "I thought there is no way that is not going to crash. "It was really loud. "I heard an electronic noise, like a noise I probably haven't heard before." She said it hovered for between 30 seconds and a minute. She could not see it because her wide verandas obscured the sky. "It was definitely something. It didn't sound like the engine of any type of plane I have heard before." http://www.ntnews.com.au/article/2010/12/29/203831_ntnews.html

Quote:Shining light proof aliens are on earth From: Daily Mail February 03, 2011 A SHINING ball of light has been filmed hovering above a Jerusalem shrine, in footage which UFO enthusiasts say could finally prove aliens exist. The clips show the pulsating orb descend and hover above the Dome of the Rock, an ancient Islamic shrine, before shooting up into the night sky. It then descends again and disappears. Unusually, the sighting has been filmed from different viewpoints, meaning it has been more difficult to dismiss than most. The footage was taken in Jerusalem at 1am on Saturday morning and has spread like wildfire on the internet. It has been viewed by hundreds of thousands of people and prompted fierce debate among UFO enthusiasts and sceptics. Former Ministry of Defence UFO investigator Nick Pope told The Sun: 'If these are real, they are some of the most incredible videos ever shot. 'If they are not, then this is a very well-planned and co-ordinated hoax designed to eliminate elements of doubt.' He said the way the object shoots up suggests it is unmanned: 'We know the Israeli army has some very high-tech drones at its disposal. 'If this is one, it is one of the most advanced pieces of technology created by man.' http://www.dailytelegraph.com.au/news/world/shining-light-proof-aliens-are-on-earth/story-e6frev00-1225999404555

Quote:UFO and alien abduction files released by UK Ministry of Defence From: NewsCore March 03, 2011 5:38PM THOUSANDS of files with details of UFO sightings and an "alien abduction" in London have been released for the first time by the UK Ministry of Defence (MoD). The previously classified files contain more than 8500 pages that reveal the UFO phenomenon has been discussed at the highest levels of governments worldwide - and in 1979 the UK House of Lords held Parliament's only ever full debate among lawmakers on the subject, Sky News reported. One day ago: Alien purred at us - flight controller Picture Special: UFOs - are they out there? The files, which also contain pictures, described how for a few hours in 1967 a War Of The Worlds -style incident was treated as a potentially real alien invasion of the UK. UFOs buzz Sydney - is this the proof March 2010: More UFO alien sightings revealed Another startling revelation said in the months before the September 11 attacks in 2001, 15 unidentified aircraft were detected on radar approaching the UK and one was detected on the actual day. In another case a man told the MoD he believed he had been beamed up by an alien craft from his home in Barnes, southwest London. The files contain pages of UFO sightings and reports, color photographs and drawings, UK Royal Air Force investigations, unusual radar detections, briefings to lawmakers and - for the first time - documents on the government's policy on UFOs. Quote:Siberia air traffic control claim a female alien purred at them Staff writers From: news.com.au March 04, 2011 SIBERIAN air traffic controllers claim that a female-sounding alien spoke to them in a cat-like language. They say that a mysterious object - which they believe was a high-speed UFO - appeared on flight monitors over the remote Russian city of Yakutsk, the Daily Mail reported. It rapidly changed direction in the sky and reached speeds of nearly 1000km/h - surrounding planes were seen to be travelling significantly slower. The aviation workers tried to make contact with the ship, as evident in a video posted to YouTube. "I kept hearing some female voice, as if a woman was saying mioaw-mioaw all the time," one air traffic controller told the pilot of a passing Aeroflot flight. But the Northern Territory News thinks it may have solved the mystery of the purring aliens. The Territory's talking cat, Mischief, has gone missing and locals hold grave concerns for her safety amid fears she was the source of the cat-like language heard by air traffic control. The Siberian UFO was automatically designated as "00000" as it did not have a flight number. Airport officials have not commented on the footage. http://www.heraldsun.com.au/lifestyle/the-other-side/siberia-air-traffic-control-claim-a-female-alien-purred-at-them/story-e6frfhk6-1226015965254

Quote:NASA Scientist Dr Richard Hoover claims to have found evidence of alien life NewsCore From: NewsCore March 06, 2011 WE are not alone and alien life forms may have more in common with life on Earth than we had thought, according to a NASA scientist. The out-of-this-world research by Dr Richard B. Hoover, an astrobiologist with NASA's Marshall Space Flight Centre, was published in the March edition of the Journal of Cosmology. In the report, Dr Hoover describes the latest findings in his study of an extremely rare class of meteorites, called CI1 carbonaceous chondrites - only nine such meteorites were known to exist on Earth. The scientist was convinced that his findings revealed fossil evidence of bacterial life within such meteorites and by extension, suggests we are not alone in the universe. "I interpret it as indicating that life is more broadly distributed than restricted strictly to the planet Earth," Dr Hoover said. "This field of study has just barely been touched because quite frankly, a great many scientists would say that this is impossible." In what he called "a very simple process," Dr Hoover fractured the meteorite stones under a sterile environment before examining the freshly broken surface with the standard tools of the scientist: a scanning electron microscope and a field emission electron scanning microscope, which allowed him to search the stone's surface for evidence of fossil remains. He found the fossil remains of micro-organisms not so different from ordinary ones found underfoot on Earth. "The exciting thing is that they are in many cases recognisable and can be associated very closely with the generic species here on earth," Dr Hoover said. But not all of them. "There are some that are just very strange and don't look like anything that I've been able to identify, and I've shown them to many other experts that have also come up stumped." Other scientists say the implications of this research were shocking, describing the findings variously as profound, very important and extraordinary. But Dr David Marais, an astrobiologist with NASA's AMES Research Centre, said he was very cautious about jumping on the bandwagon. These kinds of claims have been made before, he noted and found to be false. "It's an extraordinary claim, and thus I'll need extraordinary evidence," he said. http://www.heraldsun.com.au/lifestyle/the-other-side/evidence-of-aliens-nasa-scientist/story-e6frfhk6-1226016700299

Quote:Bigfoot sighting 'caught on video' By FOX News From: NewsCore March 25, 2011 A NORTH Carolina man was overnight claiming to have video of the legendary Bigfoot. Thomas Byers was driving with a friend when he said he saw Bigfoot cross Golden Valley Church Road in Rutherford County on Wednesday. Naturally, he whipped out his video camera and was able to capture a five-second video from about 4.5 to 6m away. "It ran across the road and into the woods right in front of us and I was able to film it," Mr Byers wrote in an email to WCNC-TV. "In the short video you can hear it snarl or growl at me." And Bigfoot, he said, is in desperate need of a shower. "One thing I know is the smell of it was horrid. It smelled like a cross between road kill and a skunk. And it did not like the fact that I was there on the road with it. In the video you can hear it snarl or growl at me as it crosses the road." Mr Byers detailed the event on a personal website where he has posted the video and a handful of pictures. In the description, he explained that Bigfoot, or Knobby as the beast is known locally, has been "spotted for years". Commenters on his site remained divided over the authenticity of the video. But Mr Byers said he was satisfied simply to have experienced the moment. "It was truly one of the most amazing things that I have ever seen," he said on his website. Representatives of the American Bigfoot Society and the Bigfoot Field Researchers Organisation did not immediately respond to requests for comment. http://www.adelaidenow.com.au/news/breaking-news/bigfoot-sighting-caught-on-video/story-e6frea73-1226027808823?from=public_rss

Quote:FBI upgrades online public records, featuring searchable dossiers Staff writers From: NewsCore April 07, 2011 FEATURING searchable dossiers on characters as wide-ranging as Al Capone, Notorious B.I.G. and the 9/11 hijackers, the FBI has upgraded its online public records. FOXNews.com reports more than 2000 digitised documents have been added to "The Vault", a fascinating new electronic reading room that can be accessed at vault.fbi.gov. "The new website significantly increases the number of available FBI files, enhances the speed at which the files can be accessed and contains a robust search capability," David Hardy, chief of the FBI's Records Management Division, said. UFOs More importantly, it also contains stuff about UFOs. One document, for example, pertains to Guy Hottel, a special agent in charge of the FBI's Washington Field Office, who sent a memo concerning flying saucers at Roswell to the FBI's director in March 1950. "An investigator for the Air Force stated that three so-called flying saucers had been recovered in New Mexico," according to the memo dated March 22, 1950. "They were described as being circular in shape with raised centers, approximately 50 feet in diameter. Each one was occupied by three bodies of human shape but only three feet tall, dressed in metallic cloth of a very fine texture. Each body was bandaged in a manner similar to the blackout suits used by speed flyers and test pilots. "According to Mr. (redacted) informant, the saucers were found in New Mexico due to the fact that the Government has a very high-powered radar set-up in that area and it is believed the radar interferes with the controlling mechanism of the saucers. No further evaluation was attempted by SA (redacted) concerning the above." Carl Sagan and the space shuttle Columbia One file relates to an incident recorded in 1983 when iconic astronomer Carl Sagan received a letter that appeared to show prior knowledge of a terrorist group sabotaging the space shuttle Columbia. It states: "On November 23, 1983, there will be a terrorist bomb attack on a market or warehouse that is distributing free food to a crowd in San Salvadore. This will be a diversion for an attack on a fuel storage facility in the vicinity. If Columbia goes as scheduled, there will be an explosion in the rocket due to a fuel leak." This purported to come from a "M. Springfield", but the only person of such name in the area had died 10 years earlier. Sagan himself died in 1996, seven years before the Columbia exploded on re-entry from its 28th mission. 9/11 attacks Some of the documents include a detailed chronology of the hijackers' movements prior to September 11, 2001, including their ATM withdrawals, mobile phone activity and training flights taken in Florida, New Jersey and elsewhere. A chronology of events - the "Hijackers Timeline" - is a 150-page spreadsheet detailing the terrorists and their associates. Beginning with Mohamed Atta, who crashed American Airlines Flight 11 into the North Tower of the World Trade Center, the document lists each subject's country of origin, date of birth and tracks every known movement they made leading up to the attacks. Notorious B.I.G. FBI agents on both coasts participated in a nearly two-year investigation aimed at finding out who gunned down rapper Notorious B.I.G. and whether any Los Angeles police officers were involved. The inquiry ended in early 2005, after federal prosecutors concluded there wasn't enough evidence to pursue a case against any officers or another man implicated in the 1997 shooting death. The decision was made after agents in Los Angeles, San Diego and New York tried to track down potential suspects and witnesses who might shed new light on the unsolved killing that came months after another rap superstar, Tupac Shakur, was shot dead in Las Vegas. The investigation started out as a civil rights violation and public corruption review, but efforts were made to solve the homicide case. The FBI's file included police reports. Informants told the FBI that the killing of B.I.G., whose real name was Christopher Wallace, may have been aided by corrupt police officers. The heavily redacted files include several mentions of sources who wouldn't talk to Los Angeles police investigators about Wallace's death because of suspicions about corruption. Gangsters and pop culture Users of the FBI's new system can also search through topics like counterterrorism, the Gangster Era and Popular Culture, where they will find the FBI's file on subjects like Usama bin Laden, George "Machine Gun" Kelly and Malcolm X, respectively. And thanks to new technology developed by the FBI, users can also search for keywords within individual files. Many of the older records, however, include handwritten notes that are not easily searchable. The best place to start, however, is here, at The Vault Index. - with AFP http://www.heraldsun.com.au/lifestyle/the-other-side/carl-sagan-warned-of-space-shuttle-columbia-disaster-the-truth-is-in-the-vault/story-e6frfhk6-1226035494244

Once driving over the ramp and fence, he got out of the car, dismantled the ramp, and then drove off? Another explanation - he is RoboCop.

Looks like Chewbacca driving the car
He was a man of specific quirks. He believed that all meals should be earned through physical effort. He also contended, zealously like a drunk with a political point, that the third dimension would not be possible if it werent for the existence of water.

Quote:FBI memo: Roswell saucers were real From: Daily Mail April 11, 2011 A BIZARRE memo that appears to prove that aliens did land near the American town of Roswell has been published by the FBI. The bureau has made thousands of files available in a new online resource called The Vault. Among them is a memo to the director from Guy Hottel, the special agent in charge of the Washington field office in 1950. In the memo, whose subject line is "Flying Saucers", Agent Hottel reveals that an Air Force investigator had stated that "three so-called flying saucers had been recovered in New Mexico". The investigator gave the information to a special agent, he said. The FBI has censored both the agent and the investigator's identity. Agent Hottel went on to write: "They were described as being circular in shape with raised centers, approximately 50 feet in diameter. "Each one was occupied by three bodies of human shape but only 3 feet tall," he stated. The bodies were "dressed in a metallic cloth of a very fine texture. Each body was bandaged in a manner similar to the blackout suits used by speed flyers and test pilots." He said that the informant, whose identity was censored in the memo, claimed the saucers had been found in New Mexico "due to the fact that the Government has a very high-powered radar set-up in that area and it is believed the radar interferes with teh controlling mechanism of the saucers". He then stated that the special agent did not attempt to investigate further. The release of the secret memo is likely to fuel conspiracy theorists' claims of a government cover-up. The town of Roswell in New Mexico became infamous after reports that a flying saucer had crashed in the desert near a military base there on or around July 2, 1947. The bodies of aliens were said to have been recovered and autopsied by the US military, but American authorities allegedly covered the incident up Flying saucers: One of the supposed alien victims of the Roswell UFO crash Military authorities issued a press release, which began: "The many rumours regarding the flying disc became a reality yesterday when the intelligence officer of the 509th Bomb Group of the Eighth Air Force, Roswell Army Air Field, was fortunate enough to gain possession of a disc." The headlines screamed: "Flying Disc captured by Air Force." Yet, just 24 hours later, the military changed their story and claimed the object they'd first thought was a "flying disc" was a weather balloon that had crashed on a nearby ranch. Amazingly, the media and the public accepted the explanation without question. Roswell disappeared from the news until the late 1970s, when some of the military involved began to speak out. Another memo published in The Vault from 1947 claimed that an object "purporting to be a flying disc" had been recovered near Roswell. The disc was "hexagonal in shape" and "suspended from a balloon by a cable", according to the memo, marked as "Urgent", to the FBI director. The memo noted that the disc resembled a weather balloon - but claimed that a telephone conversation between the Air Force and the field office "had not (word censored) borne out this belief". The disc and balloon were being transported to Wright Field for further inspection, the memo noted. It added that the information was being flagged up because of "national interest" in the episode, and noting that both NBC and the AP were set to break the story that day. http://www.adelaidenow.com.au/ipad/fbi-memo-says-roswell-saucers-were-real/story-fn6bqphm-1226036846002

Quote:Retired Air Force Major Predicts UFO Sightings at Royal Wedding Mar 30, 2011 – 4:45 PM David Moye The upcoming royal wedding between Prince William and Kate Middleton is expected to be viewed by more than a billion people worldwide -- and possibly a few extraterrestrials, according to at least one former military officer. George Filer, a retired Air Force major, runs the National UFO Center and says it's common to see UFOs around important events. "The craft seem to have an interest in anything important," Filer told AOL News. "They've been sighted recently over Libya and near the Japanese tsunami." Filer says his center averages more than 1,000 sightings a month, and he expects to get a few UFO reports from the area surrounding Westminster Abbey, the site of the April 29 wedding. There are two reasons behind Filer's prediction: In the last few weeks, he's been getting reports from British Royal Air Force pilots who reported seeing UFOs over the English Channel, and, more importantly, he says the royal family is very interested in the UFO phenomenon. Filer knows this personally because he once had a conversation about UFOs with William's grandfather, Prince Philip. "It was around 1961 or '62, when I was a navigator in a tanker," Filer said. "He met with a group of us after a dinner because he wanted to talk about UFOs. He told us that the RAF had stopped sending fighters after UFOs because some of them didn't come back. "They decided to send tankers, which were nearly as fast as the fighters but could hold 15 hours of fuel, compared to two for the fighters." Filer says the prince also revealed that his interest in UFOs was more than just concerns of national security -- it was personal. "I asked him why he was so interested in UFOs and he explained that his uncle, the Earl Mountbatten, had seen them up close," Filer said. Even though the meeting took place during the Cold War, Filer discounts the underlying possibility that the UFOs seen during the period were actually Soviet craft. "That was always a possibility, but it seemed unlikely since these craft were bigger than expected -- it's like an aircraft carrier in space," he said. "However, the Soviets did try to penetrate the airspace of the United Kingdom and the United States quite regularly." Filer's account of Prince Philip's UFO interest gets support from Colin Andrews, a renowned investigator of crop circles in Britain during the 1980s. Crop circles -- a term coined by Andrews -- are mysterious patterns, created by the flattening of crops, that many people believe have been created by extraterrestrials. "The queen even put a book of mine about the subject, called 'Circular Evidence,' on her official summer reading list, the first paranormal book ever included," Andrews told AOL News. "Prince Philip and the queen are particularly interested in the subject. And their interest seems to be based on personal experiences." Andrews says the queen even sent him a letter confirming that very fact, despite official denials from the British government and the royal family. "I have numerous documents attesting to that, even though Nick Pope, the head of the UFO project of the Ministry of Defense, publicly stated the queen and the government had no official interest in UFOs," Andrews said. "I believe he was under instruction to make that statement and he later confirmed that during a live interview with the BBC." Andrews posted the queen's letter on his website but was asked to remove it because it was a "personal" correspondence not meant for public consumption. "The royal family has not just an interest in UFOs and crop circles, but a great interest," Andrews added. "And that includes Prince Charles and the late Princess Di. "As for Prince William, I'd be surprised if he wasn't interested as well." UFO researcher Michael Luckman says Prince Philip's UFO curiosity comes from his uncle, the first Earl of Mountbatten. "Lord Mountbatten not only had a sighting, but one of his former employees reportedly claimed they saw a craft on [Mountbatten's] estate," Luckman said. Dan Willis, a Denver genealogist who wrote about Prince Philip in his e-book, "Romanovs in the 20th Century," says that while Mountbatten's sighting was reported extensively in the British press, he wasn't aware of an actual craft -- or that the prince was interested in UFOs himself. "However, it wouldn't surprise me," Willis told AOL News. "Whatever comes into his mind usually comes out of his mouth, so I can see him talking about this." UFO sightings is a family tradition, Luckman speculates. He also says Prince Charles was chased by a UFO in 1989 while flying back to Britain from the United States. Willis says his research shows that the queen has shown interest in crop circles, especially during the 1960s and '70s when they were destroying crops. "She was even photographed inside a crop circle, but I think her interest was more because this was something that was affecting citizens than her being a real fan," Willis said. A Buckingham Palace spokesman denied AOL News' interview request on this topic, and Filer isn't surprised. "Officials at the U.S. government have told me that a head of state will not admit the truth about UFOs unless three or four other heads of state will stand with him," Filer said. Luckman believes the upcoming royal wedding could be the perfect occasion to make such an announcement. "I understand if disclosure could be a concern, but if the royal family came through with what they know, it could be a good thing," he said. "I personally feel such an announcement would be a great wedding present to the world." Although Andrews believes William is just as interested in UFOs as his father and grandfather, he says there is little chance the royal family will make such a disclosure, wedding or not. "Having knowledge of this phenomenon gives them an edge that can help them maintain power," Andrews said. "Although the royal family has a certain independence that would give credibility to such an announcement, I think if one is made, it is more likely to come through religious sources." http://www.aolnews.com/2011/03/30/retired-air-force-major-predicts-ufo-sightings-at-royal-wedding/

Quote:'Dead alien' found in Siberian snow after UFO crash The Sun From: No Source April 20, 2011 Could this be an alien? Has an alien's corpse been found in a known UFO hotspot in Sibera? Watch this viral video and judge for yourself. VIDEO footage of what Russians claim is an alien found in the snow after "blue and pink glowing lights" hurtle out of the sky. Incredible footage has emerged of what a group of Russians claim is the remains of a mangled alien. The Sun reports the lifeless "body" was found in snow in the Irkutsk region of southern Siberia following reports of a "pink and blue glowing object" that crashed from the sky. The "extra-terrestrial" appears to have lost a limb. Even the country's Emergencies Ministry staff have investigated the incident after investigators said no aircraft were reported in the area. Search and rescue teams found no evidence of an aircraft crash. The strange clip of the discovery has now been seen by nearly 1.5 million people in the two days since it was uploaded on April 17. So is it a fake? "Why do all aliens have to be naked?" one commentor pointedly asked. "FAIL. Sorry...so fake," another wrote. But the same writer was quick to qualify her comments. "Do aliens exist? Certainly ... I believe they do. But not in this video."
