Brosque wants to conquer at Bankstown
17.03.10 10:17

Bankstown City FC's promising young gun Damian Brosque cannot wait to fire for the club in 2010
Bankstown City FC youngster Damien Brosque is eager to cement a first team spot in this season’s NSW Premier League.
After a successful season in the Grade 20 Premier League competition where he won the Player of the year award, Brosque enjoyed a season in the National Youth League with the Newcastle Jets.

``I definitely enjoyed playing in the Newcastle youth team,’’ Brosque said.

``I actually had to move up there and lived with Will Angel and Umut Tokdogan who are from the NSW Premier League.

``It was a very good experience, the standard was much higher than what I am used to.

``The club was very professional and I am glad to have got the chance to play there.

Having just returned to Jensen Park, the youngster is eager to cement a spot in Bankstown’s starting 11.

`` My aim is to cement a spot in first grade but I know there are a lot of talented players already in the team like George Nohra and Robbie Mileski that play in my position,’’ he said.

``But I’ll keep plugging away and when I get my chance I will grab It with both hands.’’

Although focusing on his own career, Brosque looks up to brother and Sydney FC striker Alex as inspiration.

`` He has achieved a far bit in his career and if I was to get anywhere close to that it would be unreal,’’ Damien said.

``I want to make it to the professional level and play in the A-League.

``Ideally I would like to play for Sydney for obvious reasons but if something else comes up I will definitely take it.’’

Bankstown City will search for their first win of the NSW Premier League against the West Sydney Berries this Sunday at Sydney Olympic Athletic Centre with kick off set for 6pm.

hmm he must be some sort of traitor to the "real" football clubs as he says that playing in the NYL is a step up from the level of play in the state league...

really? how amusing, I could say that my 4 year old son could put 20 goals past Sydney Olympic - but it wouldn't make it true.

Not really, if he chooses to pursue football as a career I would hope he has greater ambition.
