Edited by Proud2BeCanberran: 21/3/2010 08:38:44 PM Not sure but they will use the Greek festival as an excuse  They could get a crowd of 30,000 and it still wouldn't stoop the laughing:lol:

I definatly lol'd . I wonder what Solympic will use for an excuse - probaly the Greek Festival at Darling Habour like was aforementioned. I saw a little bit as the bus drove over the Western Distribitor this arvo, but i reckon that the Irish festival in Hyde Park attracted more people, possibly was a nice crowd too.

oh-limp-dic no infrustructure of their own and would rather pay stupid money for journeyman ring-ins who couldn't give a f--- than produce players to play at this level
The only difference between you guys and Sydney FC is that they get bigger crowds and have more success

Another reason people would see an A-League title as more valuable is because the A-League is a fully professional league whereas the NSL was only ever Semi-Professional. I think they are as valuable as eachother but those reasons are why people wouldn't see them equally.

But, at the end of the day, titles arent about the prizemoney. It would be as stupid as saying that Liverpool's Division 1 titles are useless or that South Melbourne's title that took them to the WCC is more valuable than their other titles. In monetary value, theyre obviously more valuable. But a national championship is still a national championship.

So youre saying that the NSL was more of a physical league while the A-League is more technical? FFS

Salary cap in the a-league means that player turnover after every year is very frequent and that teams cannot keep their best players Sydney FC has only existed for 5 years and has already done the following 2 national championships 1 national league championship 1 national w-league championship 1 national youth league championship OFC Champions Cup Appeared at a club world cup Over 1 million fans through the turnstiles over the past 5 seasons I respect SO because i played my youth there but im not oblivious to the fact that the a-league is the now and the future and thats all that matters

NSL is gone and not coming back.
A-league is here and thats that.
However, this does not mean that Sydney Olympic must accept this fate and just be another team making up numbers in the State League.
Why shouldn't we try to be as professional as we can? Why can't we try bring the crowds back? Why can't we even push to be a potential team for a B League?
We should. And I feel confident with the current Board we have, they are on the right path, and the right people to do this for my club.
I will be behind them 100% of the way.

Quote: Why can't we try bring the crowds back? Why can't we even push to be a potential team for a B League? Because the FFA will never allow it. By the time they go for a B-League they will want much the same as the A-League(broadbased franchises)

You may very well be correct sc58, but why can't we strive to be up to that standard?

You may have a point about the ACL, but seriously it's not yet all it's cracked up to be TBH - you have to wait 12 months. ](*,)
