SOUTH MELBOURNE HELLAS THE BIGGEST CLUB IN AUSTRALIA

even as an olympic supportter i can say that with all honesty

I don't get it. You go from Sydney Olympic being the biggest club in Australia and then South Melbourne being the biggest club in Australia. Make your mind up. Then again it doesn't matter which one you say is the biggest club in Australia because neither of them are.

Chris,

Well done mate, Any football on FTA TV is a good thing - Any word when C31 will go digital?

Will this show just focus on SMFC, or on all the VPL?

don't congratulate me, I am at best An avid fan and volunteer at junior level as one of the team managers. The club is demonstrating that even though it is easier to whinge about it's fate in Australian football it prefers to make a contribution

this latest innitiative is a the first of many steps signalling the clubs intentions for the next 50 years

" I love this club"

C31's migration to digital is earmarked around jul/aug

C31 TV is about to launch to digital viewing at the start of May - this will have a huge significant impact on our audience we will now reach 100% of the free-to-air TV market. Larger audience, Larger range.

beware of greeks bearing press anouncements
Remember when some posters where first talking about SMFCTV as the best thing since sliced bread only for it to turn out to be another lame podcast.

please don't hype this

There's a free double pass to this sunday's traditional derby against Heidelberg at BJS for those that are interested. It'll be the last game there b4 the BJS complex undergoes a $50 million upgrade. We'll be sharing the facility with athletics and the VIS. We will also receive 4-5 junior/synthetic pitches and a new junior/womens pavilion around the parklands at BJS for the sole use of the club. Club has done really well to get this. It's an amazing deal others can only dream of. Secures the club for the very long term.

Go to the website to grab the dble pass. Should be a good day out.

Why even bother posting this here. You know it will be moved to grassroots.

On topic: Excellent move by the club.

It's a South Melbourne show - the only VPL action you'll see will be games featuring the club.

The rest will be made up of interviews with players, staff, probably a few spots on the history of the club, etc.

As has been said elsewhere, excellent move by the club. One can only applaud the professionalism being shown by the current committee. They are a credit to the club (which is more than can be said of some of the old committees!).

Very much agree with the professionalism shown. It's good to see they're just doing whatever they can to make their club better and more professional. Can only be good for football in Australia.

A contract with Channel 31 has been signed today whereby we will be televising a half hour TV program called SMFC TV every Saturday morning at 10am from 17th April.

Channel 31 will also be going digital this year meaning all FTA viewers will have equal access compared to all other networks - this is a significant achievement and exposure for our Club.
All our sponsors and players will benefit from this milestone and I welcome you to tune in and feel a sense of pride that you are all part of the South Melbourne Football Club.

Below is the announcement on the website.

Quote:

South Melbourne FC are proud to announce that a weekly half hour television program called SMFC TV will be screened on Channel 31 at 10 am every Saturday morning.

The program will commence on Saturday April 17th with the first episode focusing on the final traditional derby at Bob Jane Stadium, including full match coverage and special behind the scenes footage for all fans to enjoy.

As the season progresses, SMFC TV will focus directly on bringing the latest news from the club, as well providing all South Melbourne FC and general football fans with a modern and fresh view of the club.

Head of Marketing, Corporate Sales, and Events George Triantos speaking to smfc.com.au said "This is an another exciting move by the Club as we now have a full compliment of TV, print, radio, online and digital mediums to promote the Club. Three months of planning and discussions have seen the program become a reality, with the necessary capital investment in equipment to ensure the program is of a high quality. I would like to thank all members of the Multimedia Subcommittee working together to achieve this fantastic outcome."

South Melbourne FC encourages all football fans to tune into the show, and enjoy the best of Victorian football.

Should you have any ideas, suggestions or feedback for SMFC TV please email the club at
