Bonnyrigg White Eagles coach Brian Brown is happy with his troops performances so far, but knows they still have a long way to go in the season.
After a convincing 4-0 win over the Bankstown City Lions last week, Bonnyrigg took over top spot of the NSW Premier League.

A top of the table clash against Blacktown City FC awaits the Eagles this weekend, with both teams eager to remain undefeated.

Brown, affectionately known as Bomber, is expecting nothing more than a tough game at Lily Holmes Stadium.

``Bonnyrigg taking on Blacktown is just like Rangers against Celtic, Liverpool vs Everton and the likes,’’ Brown said.

``It will definitely be a tough and physical game. We need to be ready when we go there to get anything from Blacktown.’’

The White Eagles were instrumental in all areas of the park against Bankstown, and Brown admits he is looking to name the same team against Blacktown.

``I don’t think I’ll be making ay changes to my team,’’ he said.

``We have a few new options now with Nathan Elasi joining us from the Melbourne Victory which gives us a bit more pace up front.

``Young David Gullo has also been playing exceptionally well for us so we have a bit of depth now.

``We don’t have any serious injuries more just niggling ones in our team.

``Graeme Forbes is the only player still out and we got Paul Cotte back last week so there is competition for spots which is what we are trying to achieve.’’

Although being tagged as the competition favourites in the pre-season and sitting on top of the ladder, Brown insists his troops have never thought too far ahead.

``Everyone keeps telling us that but we never saw ourselves as the favourites,’’ Brown said.

``We just work hard and approach each game the same way with total commitment.

``We are doing that and going well, but it is not a sprint it is a marathon.

``We’re not even a third through the season so we are only going to be looking at Blacktown at the moment and nothing else.’’

The White Eagles travel to Blacktown on Sunday with kick off set for 4pm at Lily Holmes Stadium.
