ok, so this is the official sweeps for the world cup.
all the spots are taken. We have 32 names and 32 teams. So this is how it will work. I will randomly allocate the teams to a random number. The team you get is your team. Your team progresses depending on how they do in the actual tournament. Winner is of course the one who has the team who wins the tournament.
Ok this is what i ill do, ill announce the teams as they come and change the heading as well. i will also update the first post so you dont have to keep going to the last one if you dont want to.
The winner will get the pride, boasting rights and honour of knowing they, through luck, got the winning team.........unless of course FFT want to throw in a free mag as a prize or something but no pressure:-"

Ok, so all the numbers and forumers are in. Refer to the original post for how it will work.
I do have a question though. We still have some days to the event, so i was thinking, instead of allocating all the teams in one go, i can release one team per day, that way building suspense (and boosting my post count). The last two teams will get released on the same day though.
What do you guys think??????

i am going on holiday tomorrow and get back on monday, so rather than posting one now and waiting 3 days for the next one, ill start on monday.
this gives everyone a chance to enjoy the long weekend and then feel the suspense one after the other.

ok, i have this idea because many people seem to think they dont stand a chance, so just to give eveyone a chance and makes things more fun...
We WILL have the normal sweep as per usual...
however,
im thinking of doing a second one, whereby i work on goal difference.
It will work like so,
which ever team has the better goal difference goes through to the next round, so even if you team finished 3rd, their goal difference could be better than the team that finishes 2nd, thus sending your team through.
in the final 16 and so on, the goal difference will continue from the previous rounds...so your team A could go into the game with a +2GD and team B with -1. If team B wins 1-0, team A would still progress due to better GD...
what do you guys think or are their any changes you could suggest?

Maybe have a 2nd competition running alongside the main one which gives each team points based on their score and their world rank (compared to the others in their group). You'd need to work it out so that a team expected to come 4th in their group, but makes it to the round of 16, gets rewarded enough to beat out Spain's score if they were to win the world cup. So really, you'd want to be rewarding teams who overachieve. So a team ranked 20th beating a team ranked 4th would get a lot of points, given that they weren't expected to win, and the converse result would give the team ranked 4th a small amount of points as they were expected to win. This way a team like New Zealand who aren't expected to get a goal, would be rewarded greatly for a draw against anyone, where as a team like Spain wouldn't win the competition unless they beat everyone convincingly. The only challenge is working out a fair way to do this...
