Personally, I'd love to see 'come on Aussie come on' given a go. Worked really well against England back in 2003.

What are we anyway, Argentina? Although I agree that generally Aussies don't sing and aren't good at singing, I still think it would be good to hear a few good chants at the games from Australian supporters.

Well considering how well the injury count and how many first teamers aren't getting playing time, I thought of Bon Jovi's Living on a Prayer.
oi oi oi is fucking annoying. Waltzing Matilda done well at the rugby union is the best song Australian sport has got going for it I reckon.

they sing in the GG Army section. You're just sitting in the wrong spot.
When we play Ghana it will be the famous Angels song "Am I ever gonna see your face again" adapted to "Am I ever Ghana see you score again?" (Hopefully some of you are old enough to know what most Australians shout after the chorus??!! spoiler: NO WAY! GET FUCKED! FUCK OFF!

A friend of mine was in Germany for the 2006 world cup and he tells me that some of the singing over there was just fantastic, didnt come over on the tv though. I hope to hear some great aussie lyrics during SA 2010.

What's this I hear about the FFA making an official Socceroos song? Apparently they are getting the rogue traders to sing it.
A good WC cup song can be legendary! but a bad one can be an absolute stinker. Despite usually being an optimist, something tells me we may end up with another t**d in the punchbowl

Despite usually being an optimist, something tells me we may end up with another t**d in the punchbowl The absolute worst song I can remember made for the socceroos was the one that SBS came up for them. I think Australia should just stick to something most people already know. I remember when English fans did the 'Great Escape' music when they played in 2002. That was really memorable for me. English are the world champions at singing at football matches. Edited by socceroossupporter: 30/4/2010 05:48:58 PM

The Great Escape gets a run every tournament because there's bound to be a trumpeter in the england section... let's get things straight, all the official songs are shite

I hope this gives us some kind of an advantage.

Do you know specifically how many Germans are going? It will be interesting comparing the numbers. I hope no Serbians show up because we'll need every advantage we can get. The overwhelming crowd support in Japan didn't seem to trouble the Serbian B-team (Granted, Japan's crowds are pretty underwhelming to say the least). Hopefully the Green and Gold army will be able to get inside their heads with a little Serbian language insults. Here's one I concocted with google translate. Фуцк офф назад на Србија!:p Ghana is a strange one because even though we won't have the majority crowd support, I still think we will decisively win.

Seems a little overcomplicated. The best songs are the simple songs. The England cheer squad are so successful at doing what they do because the songs are so well-known (Great Escape, Real Britannia, God Save the Queen) and so simple. All they do is hum along to the Great Escape tune and then say 'England!' at the end. Australian football purists try to make it too complicated.

I tend to disagree with girtXc we definitely out sung the Japanese, but they were in amazing unison (everyone even clapped at the same time!) nice fans tho... I was out and about in Munich before the Brazil game and that was amazing, and at the game we definitely gave our all and it was probably a match for their fans... We were amazing against Croatia, but their fans are phenomenal in terms of noise (and they're just big bastards - no offence intended), so I think they had us. But, we didn't go home early \:d/ ... We definitely gave a good account of ourselves... I had tears during 'Waltzing Matilda' on numerous occasions. 'I am, you are, we are Australian' was also a cracker and a bit of a tear jerker...
