Players I think are very likely to make the squad

Federici
Langerak

Williams
Lowry
Wilkshire
Carney
Milligan
Davidson

Valeri
Jedinak
Kantarovski
Holman
Vidosic
Oar
Holland
Burns
Troisi
Mooy

McDonald
Rukavytsya
Kennedy
Williams
Djite
Leckie

Young guns who could potentialy rise over the next couple of years

Markelis, Danning, Bouzanis, Ibrahim, Bulut.

Who knows what could happen over the next 4 years. For all we know there could be 10 kids in Australia with the potential of Pele or Maradona who are 16 at the moment. Whatever happens I think we will have a solid squad.

We have the core of a side for 2014 from the final 23 now.

Federici
Carney
Milligan
Beauchamp
Wilkshire
Valeri
Jedinak
Vidosic
Holman
Rukavtsya
Kennedy

All the above are a good chance to be going around in 2014, and at least for the qualifiers. And most of the above will get some game time in SA. This is great for our future. Add to that the long list of others coming through and things are looking good.

they all need more Aaron Mooy.

I reckon hes one of our best up and coming be good to see what he can do if he gets loaned out this season.

I reckon Cahill to be the oldest player and captain.

I'm more concerned how THIS squad is going to look. 2014 is too long away, careers can be ruined between now and then. Just over two years ago people were tipping Vuko to make this squad...

no one mentions kantarovski?

His style of play might not be as flashy as tommy oars but imo he is just as good if not better.

Most of the squads people are throwing up are good but the problem I see is actually being able to get enough experience into these players before we have to qualify. Would have been nice to have used our Under 23 and 20 players in quaifying for Asian Cup, might not have made it but they would already have a nice grounding to kick off the next 4 years. I might be wrong but I think Brazil and Argentina have done this in the Copa America.

He was in the team of the season for the 2nd tier in Turkey for 2008/2009. I'm pretty sure his team is in contention for promotion this season, maybe playoffs.

FIFA critical of Brazil's World Cup progress
POSTED: May 4, 2010

By Gerald Imray

JOHANNESBURG (AP) — FIFA secretary general Jerome Valcke was fiercely critical of Brazil's World Cup preparations on Monday, saying he has received a report on the 2014 hosts' stadium construction and it is "not very nice."

FIFA has selected 12 Brazilian cities to hold games at the next World Cup, but Valcke says the sole candidate country for 2014 was already falling behind deadlines.

"I got a report on the status quo of the Brazilian stadiums. I have to say it is not very nice," Valcke said. "There are a number (of stadiums) with red lights already, which is amazing. It is amazing how Brazil is already late. And I am not just talking about Morumbi or Maracana stadiums, I am talking about a number of stadiums.

"The stadiums are the basic points we need to have a World Cup and in Brazil, for the time being, most of the deadlines are already over and we have to work on new deadlines."

Valcke said he received the report Monday morning, just hours before a ceremony at Johannesburg's Soccer City stadium — the venue for the 2010 final — to celebrate the host's stadium construction. He later thanked workers for their role in preparations.

FIFA will now have little time to celebrate South Africa's readiness before focus shifts to Brazil, which will host football's showpiece event for the first time since 1950.

"For the time being, we have 12 host cities and we are not in a period where we have to make decisions," Valcke said. "What we are saying is that all the things they have promised, they have been saying and they have signed, the commitment from different people — they have to deliver these commitments."

Valcke also warned that if the stadium in Brasilia was reduced to 30,000 seats, as reports suggest, it will not be allowed to host the tournament's opening game.

The FIFA secretary general, who has constantly played down worries over South Africa's readiness, said Brazil is experiencing similar troubles to the African country.

"Brazil is showing it is very difficult to organize a World Cup in Brazil, as it was difficult in South Africa," he said.

In a statement, the local organizing committee in Brazil said it will evaluate all stadiums beginning on Thursday. The visits will last until May 20, and will also look at the construction schedule at each venue.

It's a good looking squad. I'd be happy to see only a slightly stronger version rolled out at the Asian Cup in fact, preparing them for the subsequent WC qualifiers. Just add Neill and Schwarzer.

And I reckon Cahill is an outside chance to go to Brazil in 2014.

with my roar goggles on, remember zullo and sarota have both gone to utrect, so hopefully they really develop. luke devere is only 21 i think (he won roars best and fairest this year) and he could well be in the first 11 if he goes well.

also how many more tommy oars will spring up?
i mean that as in he is just turned 19, 4 years ago he was 15 and no body had heard of him. now he is modelling the world cup jersey at its release!

I agree, and a little air of positive thinking is quite refreshing.

Firstly, no we won't be a top ten ranked team by 2014.

I would like to see Frank Rijkaard given a go as Socceroos boss... he has proven that he has developed many youngsters to become top-class footballers and that is what needs to be done after 2010. If not Rijkaard, then maybe Johan Neeskans or Jurgen Klinnsman. Neeskans knows the set-up and I think he knows what he is doing. He has been assistant to some of the best managers in the world.

As for the team:

What will our team look like, who would you like to see as coach for this tournament and will we be a top ten ranked team by 2014?
