It's all-out attack as Red Devils look for win

BALLARAT Red Devils need maximum points - and quickly - in Football Federation Victoria state league two.

This means defeating third-placed Brunswick City at Brunswick today.

While Brunswick has three wins in the opening four rounds, the Haymes Red Devils have only two points in the bank from two draws.

Playing entertaining and controlled football so far this season has been easy on the eye for Reds fans, but it is now all about rolling up the sleeves, and hitting the net more times than the opposition.

As the defensive line, Michael Leslie and Tristan Romein have had an excellent month for the Reds.

They like to include their midfielders as much as possible, but today the ball will have to be played longer and more direct to the like of Sam Winch and Leigh Sissons up front.

Winch needs a goal.

He could have had three or four goals this season, but beating keepers has not been easy.

Sissons is in the same boat.

Franck Labakohler will make a line of three at the pointy end in the pursuit of goals.

Luke Armstrong has been promoted to the starting line-up for what is his first match of the year.

Armstrong has played well in the reserves and will take a no-frills approach to the backline.

The Reds have also gone with two wide men in an attacking line-up, with Dom Swinton and David King aiming to get plenty of crosses into the box.

Simon Murphy is probably unlucky to be still on the bench, having done well after going on early last round. He is sure to get a chance again throughout the afternoon.

"We are going to Brunswick for a win," Reds coach Dale Harris.

"That's why we've picked a very attacking line-up.

"We know that the pitch is narrow and we will be getting the ball into wide areas and then putting plenty of crosses into the box.

"We must make sure that we have people arriving to finish off the work with goal," he said.
