Moore is slow, and is finished, he can' even find a club. Our best chance is to have some pace at the back, Rhys, Carney, Neil in the centre, with Bosnar or Sas would have been my pick.

No matter who's there, the lack of pace will be exploited to some extent, even if he's playing a sweeper role you're going to see something lacking.

FFT actually found a picture of Craig in training

It's possible (likely even?) that in the centre of a decent defensive line (neill, Williams, Wilkshire, carney, chippers etc), that his lack of pace wont be that easily exploited, but his experience could be the edge we need (glass half-full analysis).

Interesting that he seems certain to be in the 23.
It's dangerous but will pay off iff he can recapture some of his old skill.

I still can't believe he's in the squad and worst will most likely start. Coyne, Big Og, Bosnar would be ahead him on my sheet. But I really do hope he shows us all up and kills it at the WC...............but i don't think so.

Or not playing, as the case may be - too drunk to turn up to training or games.

It seems very disturbing that one of Australias best defenders has been confined to playing against amateurs.

It's a squad, not a team. And who better to have in your squad than someone with Moore's experience and character. Building squads is about more than getting your best XI on the park.

Aside from that, once you're in camp and you're training hard, it comes back pretty quickly for someone who's been at a good level for a long time. You don't forget how to play football overnight. I understand that's a contradiction to the reasoning that Pim might give in some of his other selections but it remains true.

Moore was a liability for the Brisbane Roar where his age, lack of pace and lethargic attitude caught him out on numerous occasions. The guys preparation for the tournament has involved training with a queensland state league team. If he couldn’t handle A-League opposition, how is he going to handle the likes of Michael Essien, Dejan Stankovic and Michael Ballack to name but a few of the world class opponents reigning down against our goal during the world cup. The guy isn’t even loyal to the national team, when given the chance to captain his country against Paraguay in his home city he chose instead to get on the piss and miss training thus resulting in a one game ban.

There is not much point complaining though. Pim and Graham Arnold are mates with Moore and will ensure that he starts in every game.

Moore's selection , to me, is a complete contradiction. I am not a football technician or even see myself as anything other than a member of the paying public. I can see a player that has lost his legs, that plays the player and not the ball, and I know how it feels to be his age. Moore's liabilities far outway his ability to match it in the world cup with athletes at their peak. His experience in camp ok, there are better options on the pitch.

What do you think about the FourFourTwo article Moore Thwarted In Strikers Bid?
CRAIG Moore's pre World Cup action was shelved at the 11th hour when the FFA requested his absence from the weekend's teamsheet just as his international clearance arrived at Brisbane Strikers.

Have your say.
