Scholl’S Goals | 13th May 2010

Kyle Underwood grabbed a goal in Uki’s win over Dunoon on the weekend.

IN Premier League news, Pottsville are contemplating what could have been after only turning up in the second half against heavyweights Goonellabah.

Goonellabah had conceded just one goal in five rounds and looked to have continued that trend when they had Pottsville down 3-0 at halftime.

Whatever coach Dave Lonie said at halftime had a great impact as the Panthers went on the search for three goals of their own, while at the same time keeping the opposition scoreless. The Panthers won the second half 2-0 and were beaten 3-2.

They could have been humiliated but the boys dug deep and gave Goonellabah a huge shock and the team has learnt a lot from the match. This will put Pottsville in the right frame of mind for their next tussle against Bangalow.

The news was much better in first division for both Uki and Burringbar. Uki travelled to Dunoon and came away with a 2-1 victory over a very determined Dunoon outfit.

Uki scored first, courtesy of a penalty to Dave Stratton in the 20th minute. But Dunoon hit back two minutes from the break to make the score 1-1 at halftime.

The second half had lots of scoring chances going to waste until Kyle Underwood finally found his range from an acute angle to give Pythons the lead. Uki held on to win 2-1 thanks to a fine save from goalkeeper Duaine Bianchetti with three minutes remaining.

Uki’s defence improved greatly and the midfield is starting to gel and all will have to be at their best when they take on South Lismore on Saturday at Uki at 3pm in what should be another tough tussle between these two teams.

In the other match, Burringbar found the going tough against bottom-of-table opponent Kyogle. At halftime the score was locked 0-0 but the Bandits got the job done with two goals in the second half, one each to Joel Davison and Callum Chapman.

Burringbar will have to play much better when they tackle a much-improved Dunoon outfit on Saturday (3pm) at Burringbar.
