Awesome. Bring on 2022. What do you think about the FourFourTwo article Australia's Bid In FIFA's Hands? FOOTBALL Federation Australia submitted Australia's World Cup Bid Book at FIFA Headquarters in Zurich on Friday with Frank Lowy hailing it as an 'exciting milestone.'Have your say.

The new stadium being built over east is surely one of the '3 new stadiums' anyone know where the others are going to be?

Lobby Campbelltown...C'mon please.........
Watch for attention seeking nudy run down the M5 with "we want the F*&king stadium at Campbelltown" plastered on my arse...
Being serious it would make sense to have it down here as we are the furthest from any of the big stadia and have a huge football juniors.

Stephen Conroy to make "exciting World Cup announcement" on TWG at 5pm Sunday.
Wonder what he will have to say. Something about the South Africa coverage or about broadcast infrastructure for our 2018/22 bid.

^^^^^^Gyfox, since he's the Minister for Communications, my guess is that he will announce all post-World Cup Socceroo internationals will be shown live, and free-to-air on SBS.
Many have been lobbying and agitating for this to happen. I hope it materialises.

When you look at them it's only really the G, gold coast and geelong which are oval in shape. The rest are rectangular which is good. Also anybody know if Fifa may allow 3 venues in one city? Otherwise blacktown will probably go

I don't understand the gold coast stadium?. Why not redevelop gcu home Ground instead of Carrara?. Do they intend on giving it the afl after the world cup???. Maybe that's how they got the afl onboard!. The afl get free upgrades in Geelong Carrara perth Adelaide. It's a pretty good deal for the afl really!.

I'm a little confused at the proposal to use Carrara over Robina myself, although I guess with Robina being fairly new itself, upgrading it so soon would be rather painstaking as Carrara is in the process of being rebuilt for the new GC AFL club.
I like the proposal for Dairy Farmers too :D

Robina is not capable of being upgraded to the capacity required. The entire stadium would have had to be demolished and started again.Clearly the Qld Government was not going to do that when it can attempt to kill 2 birds with one stone with Gold Coast Stadium. I am sure FIFA would reduce our stadiums to 10 if we win the right to host and Carrara would be on the short list for exclusion in my view.

Good to see Kate Ellis was present at the ceremony. It shows that the Commonwealth Government are taking the bid very seriously, she also provides the eye candy other presentations lacked.
