GERMANY captain Michael Ballack has been ruled out of the World Cup finals with an ankle injury, the German Football Federation have confirmed.

As a Chelsea supporter I was disgusted with the tackle and as a Socceroos supporter I was also disgusted with the tackle....whether we win or lose or he plays or doesn't we shouldn't take delight at his injuries.

Hard lines for the poor guy I feel for him but the best news for the Roos I have heard in ages. Lets hope the Prince of Boateng also dosen't cut it. The incident also tells me what a dirty bunch of pricks certain Ghanians can be when under the pump and there so called impeccable technique goes out the door under a hail of flailing tackles.

Losing your captain before such a big tournament is tough, the fact that Kevin-Prince Boateng is German born (and playing for Ghana) just makes it worse.

Bad luck for him and Germany, good fortune for us, thats not rejoicing in his injury but it is good for us.

Ballack can't complain he was stirring up the prince.

While the Germans have the depth to replace Ballack on the field I think the psychological blow of losing their captain on the eve of the tournament will hurt them a lot. His leadership and experience raised their standard and his absence will take its toll.

Add in their goalkeeping problems and the camp must be a bit unsettled. They should be OK once they get going, but it might take them a game... ;)

First and foremost as a fan this is a huge blow. Ballack is and has been one of the best players of the decade and huge blow

I feel real sorry for him as it would've been his one last shot at WC glory with a realistic chance.

Can only help us I guess, maybe Boateng could somehow get rid of Vidic too.

Such a bad thing to happen to a quality player right before the World Cup. Would've been his last one too. But on another note WOO FUCK YEAH incredible luck for us.

Germany vs Ghana will be an interesting match, especially if KPB is on the pitch.

I think you will find it is well known on here that I am Chelsea supporter and have been for almost 30 years....we weren't always awash with Russian roubles you know.

He's Germany's talisman...but lets be honest, Ballack is a shadow of the player he once was when at Bayer Leverkusen and Bayern Munich.

Meh, very dirty player. Probably one of the dirtiest in the prem. Not saying he deserved it. But im not complaining. Wont be missed.
