Oz Is Just The Start....

of more losses ;)

but seriously, hopefully they knock a few teams down a few notches and maybe even grab a point here and there but I just don't see them making it out of the group stages but if they do I'll be cheering.

Here's to australia progressing further ;)

would really start to bring football players names of both countries into every household and grow football in this region.

What do you think about the FourFourTwo article Herbert: Oz Is Just The Start?
NEW Zealand coach Ricki Herbert admits his players are jumping at the chance to take on Australia at the MCG but that it is just the start of the World Cup journey.

Have your say.

can we play England every 2 years instead of NZ

You do realise don't you that England look down on the Socceross like you guys do NZ?

Yep, but playing England holds my interest in exactly the same way as playing Australia seems to excite the Kiwis

Who said it excites us? Whilst always good to play you guys it is just another game on the World Cup journey, I think our supporters are more interested in seeing how our new players perform, especially Winston Reid as he has such a big reputation in Denmark

If we host the Asian Cup in 2015, that will free up dates to play the Kiwis at some stage in the next 4 years.

That's a great idea Teza.

It just doesn't work to have our full squads play each other due to most the squads being made up of overseas based players.

yes you are correct it would be a big hassle for both Senior squads to get together for a one off game.

Why not play out A-league/Asia Squad against New Zealand? every year i think it be alright

Actually not a bad idea. An easier way to do it would be an ANZAC age group tournament in April between NZ, AUS & Turkey alternating venues every year. You could mix it up say U17 Boys & U17 Girls one year & U20 Guys & women the next. It would be much easier to arrange & the matches would be competitive especialy (sp?) the Womens games.

Yeah not there is room for it happen every 2 years... post WC we have the Asian Cup in January too.

Too many games in Asia when you just add up World Cup/Asian Cup qualifers. Not sure too many players will want to add their workload to come just to play NZ
