Ok. They were both bad tackles but can we stop slamming our own side. Lets get on with the world cup. Bertos is ok, the managers have discussed it, the players will know it was shite and I think in general we the fans have let them know it anyway.
Now lets get back to playing and winning.

Cahill's challenge was careless but you could see there was no force behind it. From the side on replay, you could actually see him looking in a different direction for half a second before impact. It looked like a bit a slide gone wrong from side on, rather than an attempt to play at Bertos. I reckon that even if he had got him square it might've hurt a bit but it wasn't going to break a leg.
Grella's, on the other hand, was absolutely outrageous. It was a leg breaker and he should've been sent.

First off, I'll say Grella's tackle was pretty atrocious.
In saying that, which side was it that was slagging off its mouth about how the game will be physical, won't be surprised if there is some pretty disasterious tackles and wont be surprised if some people get injured.
Bertos gets hammered and then all we hear from the Kiwis is WAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAH, YOU HURT ME, WAAAAAAAAAAAAAAH

Maybe the Kiwis should remember who was talking about 'flying tackles' before the game. Suck it up' its a mans game. Anyway I couldnt believe Bertos actually got tackled usually he dives before contact is made.

True, I found Grella was off his nut for awhile in the first half. Looked totally pissed off. Cahill's looked accidental, but I was disgusted when I saw Grella's tackle. Lucky that he didn't get sent off. Hope he doesn't take that to the WC, cause that'll cost the Roos.

On another note, good to see Jedinak play reasonably well. Want to see him play in South Africa.

Grella's tackle, one of the worst I have seen. He should be reported and penalised for the malicious act. Bertos, not only a top player but a gentlemen for not criticising the coward.

Grella looked hopeless and off the pace. He took his frustrations about his own poor form out on someone else which shows he is not a very nice person. He's a worry for the world cup.
Moore is not the player he was, I hope Beauchamp gets the nod otherwise we will be in big trouble!

Gee whizz.....the Kiwi forumites are giving us a good serve aren't they? This is great. I've never seen them this fired up. fucking wankers.
but yeah, Grella's tackle was a leg break/career ending tackle. he's been a liability since the Asian Cup send off.

That first goal clearly shook Aus, and it was very dissapointing to see how they handled it, the tackles on Bertos was a good example of how they lost it. Bertos is a true pro and I hope he can really benefit out of the world cup.

Glad to hear he is ok, that was the lowest point for me last night, i would have hate to have been the team that caused an injury in a friendly right before the world cup. Respect to Bertos for the way he handled this, good bloke and well done.

Vinnie's 'tackle' was disgusting. Can't believe a seasoned professional would do such a thing.
Major respect to Bertos/NZ for the way he's handled it.

Vince Grella is a savage. Good to hear Bertos is fine. Hopefully both sides can do well at the WC.

Not only that but Grella was Australia's worst player on the park I thought! What he said. And what Pim said afterwards. I am really thinking Vince is a huge liability after this game. I was wondering if Bertos's kind nature will change after he sees the vision? They both looked appalling challenges. Thank goodness he is OK. All the best to him, two disgraceful tackles and to be fair to him he got up and walked it off.

great news that the lad should be fit... would be a massively devastating blow for him and the rest of the team
he's a top player for WP and hope it doesn't seem flair up on him but by the sounds of it he'll be fit

two brutal tackles, bertos is true good sport What do you think about the FourFourTwo article Bertos Bounces Back? LEO Bertos refused to criticise Vince Grella after the tenacious Aussie midfielder’s tackle could’ve left the Kiwi flyer’s World Cup dreams in tatters during Monday night’s friendly.Have your say.
