i do not know what some of you are whinging about? scotty mac has had enough chances at international level as for carle all who say he is a one trick pony you are right. just heard why pim left scotty & nicky out too many competing for the same spots and besides scotty mac just has no confidence infront goal and nicky carle just does not have the legs to play against our opposition at the world cup.

Grella has not played a good game for the Socceroos since the 26th of June 2006.

What a joke. He drops MacDonald after forcing him to play in a system that makes him completely impotent. A goal poacher like Scott MacDonald wil never win a physical battle with a good defender, yet he continues to play him. Seriously what does he expect?
He was a man of specific quirks. He believed that all meals should be earned through physical effort. He also contended, zealously like a drunk with a political point, that the third dimension would not be possible if it werent for the existence of water.

i bet Danny Tiatto was laughing at the grella tackle. i like the squad good mix of youth and experience. no matter who was going all of us will have a view on who we think should or should not be going.

But that's Pim, eh? Anyone studying us will soon realise that we are set up to play one way and one way only. If we get in trouble, there's no backup plan (no, Ruka or Tommy Oar on the bench is not a backup plan). Look on the bright side. It's worked so far, so it could keep working for a few more weeks... If not, it's only four more years. Or maybe 32.

3 logical choices North no chance of 1st team, McDonald cant score to save himself and Nicky carle wouldnt even get a go at the WC so it would of been a waste if they all were picked!

Poor Scotty Mac, he's got no friends and nobody knows why. Maybe it's his haircut?
On a serious note, this is the weirdest fucking build-up to a World Cup ever. If the Socceroos come out and play Germany off the park in that first game I reckon half the nation is gonna have to be hospitalised with shock. We'll probably be down 2-0 with five minutes remaining, Kewell will come on with his groin strapped up like he's into BDSM and score a hatrick to win it.

Joke of a decision. With Harry not sure on fitness, you're taking a massive risk only taking Kennedy. Does he really rate Ruka higher?
Macca has played against some of the best defenders in the world and scored and is dropped. Hopeless from Pim.

From the @socceroos twitter account:
- Socceroos coach Pim Verbeek announced 28 players to go over to South Africa. 2 know they will not play. 3 others still to find out. - Holland and Oar will be in South Africa to train but will not play.

Good decision from Pim. Carle is unproven at championship level and obviously has not impressed him during the squad training. McDonald looks unfit (i.e. fat) and bored half the time when he's playing for the Socceroos. He's had chances, fair enough to pull the pin on him.
We have plenty of striker options in the squad for the system we are using i.e. Kennedy, Kewell, Cahill, Chippers, Rukavytsya, Holman and Garcia.
Grella has been playing poorly for Blackburn and looked no better last night. I reckon Valeri and Jedinak have the inside running for his spot for the Denmark match, watch out in training boys!
Beauchamp looks the better option to Moore as well, Pim would have learnt alot last night.

Well, if the substitutions last night are any indication, we can probably assume that Jones and Federici have got the keeping spots sewn up, so Galekovic probably won't make the final cut.

Well, at least we will win one title this year, for the most boring team to watch at the World Cup. Seriously, 3 strikers, and one of them is a lifelong crock???? What happens when (not if) Kewell goes down injured and we are a goal down with 10 minutes to go- that's right, we bring on a bloody midfielder as we have no strikers on the bench. Argentina are taking 6 strikers!!! We are screwed.

Only someone devoid of a feeling/understanding for the Game would request statistics. Anyone, who has a feeling/understanding for the Game would simply watch Carle & Holman for 5 minutes and realise Carle is streets ahead of Holman in terms of football technique and tactical vision. Holman wins the contest if comparing work rate. I'd rather have a attacking midfielder, who has technique and vision, and occasionally is lazy; than Holman, who runs around like a greyhound but loses the ball more often than he effectively passes to a teammate.

Pim has axed a player who has scored against MILAN and MAN UTD in champions league. So Kewell does his groin during the World Cup . Just who is going up front to score goals PIM?????

Not taking Scotty Mac is a joke. We are effectively taking two recognised strikers to the world cup.
Pim, you're an idiot.
I dont buy into this Carle wankfest either TBH...
