No problem with Spain, I just really like Switzerland in this tournament. I think they'll surprise a few. I'd love to see them defeat Chile and leave Spain and Chile fighting it out for the second spot as they thrash Honduras.

That said, I wasn't impressed with Spain's approach to things against the Swiss, I don't think they wanted it enough.

You can't accept the penalty but no the red card. If you accept that it was a foul and thus a penalty the ref has to send Kewell off because he was the last man.

not according to the usa v slovenia game. with that ref, it is apparently a yellow.

the rules of the game state that it is an INTENTIONAL hand ball that will result in the red card. and even if the rules of the game state that he should get a red, i think thats wrong. what is he supposed to do? dive out of the way? he tried to shoulder the ball away, it wasnt an intentional hand. bottom line is it was a bad shot from ghana and it hit harry kewell. harry kewell didnt hit the ball intentionally with his hand.

i dont care what the rulebook says, it shouldnt be a sending off. common sense tells me that.

If the referee calls a foul there, it must be for a DELIBERATE handball, therefore it's a deliberate foul by the last man. A professional foul and the referee has no choice but to send him off. The refereeing in this cup has been dreadful.

The rest, yes, you're correct about mate. It wasn't intentional and thus shouldn't have been a red card.

its the inconsistency that gets to me the most. the slovenia defender fouls altidore on the edge of the box and hes the last man... yellow card.

harry kewell gets a shot rocketed at him and it hits his arm... straight red + penalty. then Addy slides into bresc super aggressively, way worse than cahill... yellow. i just dont get it.

Obviously FIFA's pre-tournament referee briefing isn't emphasising the right things.

Real box-to-box stuff here. Definitely a game on our hands. Some great play, some very poorly timed passes creating chances. Denmark probably have the upper hand, it'll be interesting to see if it lasts.
