Slovak keeper has been bloody good. Actually, both keepers have.
I found it greatly amusing that it took Foster all of 30 seconds to relate the Netherlands back to Barcelona at Half Time.

For a second I thought it was half time in the champions league tbh  He basically said that Netherlands can't win the title beause they're not flashy enough. Since when does that mean they can't get the job done?
Why does the commentator keep saying "Van Huntelaar"?

Vittek gets a late penalty to go equal top scorer with Higuain to finish it at 2-1.

"Barcelona...Spain, Spain...Spain, Spain...Spain...Spain." - Craig Foster, post game, Netherlands v Slovakia, June 29, 2010.
He mentioned Spain 8 times. Anyone would think it was Spain v Slovakia.

I know it won't happen but I hops Portugal park the bus and get a goal to beat Spain on the breakaway to cause Foz to have a mental breakdown on national television. I'm sick of his incessant jizzfest over the Spanish it's really fucking annoying.

Especially when it's been completely unwarranted so far in this tournament. He's talking about Spain playing 'total football' and yet there has been no movement off the ball from spain and they've been almost stagnant in their formation.

Just on Spain. There's news that if Xabi Alonso isn't fit for the Portugal game then Javi Martinez will come in for him to leave Fabregas on the bench. I don't understand how Fabregas doesn't get a start if Alonso is injured. He's shown more then enough in the appearences he's made to warrant a start.

Just some interesting facts here.
This is the 19th FIFA World Cup match between CONMEBOL nations and the 8th in the knockout phase.
Brazil have played two matches previously on 28th June at the World Cup drawing both. 2-2 with Switzerland in 1950 and in 1994 drew 1-1 with Sweden.
This is Howard Webb's 3rd game of these World Cup Finals. Interestingly enough his previous two games were the two biggest shocks of the tournament in Switzerland's win over Spain and Slovakia's defeat of Italy. A good omen for Chile perhaps.
Another good omen for Chile perhaps is Mick Jagger. He was supporting USA and they got knocked out then England and they got knocked out. Now he's said he's supporting Brazil.

The last 6 internationals between these two teams have yielded 28 goals. 25 by Brazil and 3 by Chile with Brazil winning all 6.

Surely not? Brazil and Chile have met 68 times across the years. Chile have won just 7 of those.

Surely not? That's the news at the moment. I can't see how he can't get a start when he has shown much more than Martinez has in his appearances. IIRC Martinez only came on late in the Honduras or Chile match for his only minutes. Edited by sydneycroatia58: 29/6/2010 04:51:25 AM

This is the 3rd time Chile have reached the knockout stages of the World Cup. Funnily enough Brazil knocked them out both previous times. In 1962 in the semi-finals and in 1998 in the Round of 16.

The deadlock is broken a corner from Maicon and an unstoppable header from Juan past Bravo.

And Brazil have scored a second for Luis Fabiano for his 3rd goal of the tournament.
A delicious through ball from Kaka puts Fabiano in as he rounds the keeper and puts it in.
It's really dissapointing because Chile really were playing well and in the space of 4 minutes the game is totally changed.

3-0 Brazil. Brilliant run from Ramires as he lays it off for Robinho to place it in the far corner.

So Brazil cruise to a fairly comfortable 3-0 win and go on to play the Netherlands in a replay of their 1998 semi-final which Brazil won on penalties.
