I hope we stick it the Americans. they are majorly overrated in football as of late. everyone knows that football is the one major sport that America doesn't have a real hand in. Being rated as high as they are is a joke. Australia has better players and should win the match. What do you think about the FourFourTwo article Verbeek Cranks Up Power? PIM Verbeek is aiming for full throttle by the time Australia face the USA with the Dutchman expecting his players to be at '90 per cent' for the clash against Denmark.Have your say.

A couple of good results in the confed cup doesn't mean shit.
Saying that the USA is not as bad as Faint makes out. They usually do pretty well, work well as a team and have some individual talents. Think they are a good team to play in the lead up.

I thought America looked quiet good against Turkey. Absolute rubbish to think we are much better than America. They have some handy players and shouldn't be underestimated.

USA have better players then us but i think we have a better team in terms of togetherness but with Donvan up front i think he's going to leave old moore in the dust of his tracks.

We've had a very well organised and considered build up. In SA earlier than other teams, some of whom still aren't there yet. Our opposition in the 2 SA friendlies is challenging and it looks like we have a good lot of support staff and sports science at our disposal. Very good FFA. Thye players can't complain.

can't wait to play the US. It'll be good to see how we perform against a US team that did well at the confed cup. I don't rate them as highly as their rankings suggest but nevertheless they will be good opposition - I could care less for the sport to improve in the eyes of the general public in the US.
here's hoping pim doesnt work them to hard before the game. :P

I've got to back up Riv's point. Our preparation for this tournament has been as good as, if not better than any other team in the tournament. Yes we have injuries but our support staff are going to great lengths to ensure all our players are ready for the tournament. I think that's why there is such an air of confidence about Pim and his players, because they know everything is being taken care of. There are no excuses, it all comes down to what our players can produce on the day.
I don't know if the players have gained any confidence from NZ's win over Serbia, but I think a lot of supporters have. I know Serbia weren't at full tilt but regardless, it just proves that they can be beaten by a 'lesser' side. If they'd flogged NZ 10-0 then I'm sure we'd be a bit worried.

If they'd flogged New Zealand we wouldn't be surprised. Losing 1-0 however, different story. Surely the all-whites jammy long bomb-flick on stuff will get found out though? Surely.

you mean the jammy long bomb-flick on stuff that works?
agree though, i was surprised at the distinct lack of 4 goal hiding from serbia this morning. it will be interesting to see if this strange but useful style will continue.

the long ball-flick on stuff is brilliant - a team that is not so strong technically playing to their strengths - all power to them. but we're off topic...
i'd have liked to have seen our friendlies more closely mirror the teams we'd be playing in the group (croatia/bosnia and an african team... there's not much you can do for the germany game...) but otherwise it appears we're preparing quite well.

At the very least it's exciting to watch unlike the socceroos slow transition possession game.

Every time I see a photo of Verbeeks sour, crumpled mug and atrocious cover up baldy hair, I want to draw a red circle around his head with a thick red diagonal line across his face.
"Crank up the power". Under Verbeek? What a joke.

Watch the Kewell interview on TWC, he hints that he thinks we can go to the finals. Denmark is good preparation for Sebia and Germany and the US, well we'll see them or the similar England team in the round of 16. Ghana are no threat, seriously. As for the comments about the US, I think our players are stronger than theirs. Donovan is not better than Cahill, Schwarzer matches their good keepers, after that they are scraping the barrel with players like Altidore who plays at the same level as one of our weaker players, namely Garcia. We'll beat them at least once in the next month and probably twice.

Here's a hint towards the answer. It starts with Z and ends with Ero.

I think the prep for this world cup is rather astute. In practice it should hold us in excellent stead.
