Funnily enough, that has been the trend in cup tournaments for the last decade or so. Secure a win at all costs. As for Holman, he played better than I'd seen him play before against Denmark. Let's see tonight how he (and the rest of the Roos) does against a team that play aa similar style to Australia.

Holman is alright, strong, hardworking & very fit, gives ball runners options other than the long ball into the box or chip over the top into the box

Why would Holman go from earning five figures a week to a couple of grand a week coming back here to play at his age? This should be in the rumour mill

Excellent game by Holman tonight. His second in a row.

You would hope that the armchair supporters who've been getting stuck into him over the last few years would have the good sense to shut up for a couple of days at least.

The Socceroos invited 10,000 township children to their warm-up games?

To me, that is another goodwill coup in our bid campaign. The Aussies are in South Africa aclimatising and acting as good ambassadors for the game while the England team was in Austria.

With our women's team winning the Asian Cup, the FFA are on fire.

If we don't get to host the World Cup in either 2018 or 2022 it won't be from the lack of a professional and innovative approach.

We don't need another damned DM, especially in the hole/striking. Holman is ONLY good for running a lot without the ball. He won't be more than a distraction to any talented playmakers on the opposing side. And pray that he is never required to move the ball forward because his touch, passing, vision and intelligence are minimal on a good day.

To be completely honest, I wouldn't mind Holman in the current Adelaide United squad. His runs would be well suited to Flores' passing and linking up with van Dijk up front. Throw into the mix Leckie and Dodd, and we have ourself some potency...

I can only dream...

Maybe Pim has got it right, along with European coaches.

1. Holman continues to play in the Socceroos and Europe.
2. Carle is not in the Socceroos and is coming back to Oz from Div1 England.

Enough said ? Whatever 'we armchair critics' think, the coaches in Europe think something else.

Pass me another jam donut.

Holman and Arnold? That's a winning combination.
