Starting to get sick of hearing about games being training sessions. I think its time to start taking games seriously, and fans should be able to expect a little by now. Our last couple of games before a world cup should'nt be taken lightly & it just feels like Australia are giving themselves something to fall back on What do you think about the FourFourTwo article Neill: Don't Expect Too Much? LUCAS Neill has warned Australian fans against expecting great things in tonight's friendly against Denmark in Johannesburg, believing the team are still a week away from being at their peak.Have your say.

Take this as a training friendly....take the match vs USA as a full-blooded ownage match.

^ agree. Attack the US hard and make a statement. Thats the more important of the friendly games.

If this team is playing at 90% of the world cup standard with an idea of being good enough to beat the german national team then we should expect to come close to a win.
It will be more interesting to see if the team is passing, running and working together. All of which was missing in the NZ game.
The hope is that some of the outsiders will get a run also to prove they can fill the gaps. If we have a real chance of progressing someone will be needed to fill gaps which will happen.
I expect a win against the Danes. We are good enough to do it and if we play our best 11 for 2/3 of the game we should expect to come close.

I'm really looking forward to tonight, it will be interesting to see how far the boys have come along in the last week or so.
Has anyone else noticed the Siege 'us and everyone else' mentality coming out of the dressing room at the moment? Some of the boys attitudes to the media have really empahised it, Grella and Timmy being the best examples. It's obvisouly a concious decision by either the team or Pim and I have to say I like it. Reminding me a bit of the way Alex Ferguson breeds that sort of mentality.

Anyone else think/hoping this may be a final run/test for Moore in the same fashion as Mcdonald?

I think too many blokes feel comfortable that their spot is guaranteed even with another average performance tonight. I want them all to be fighting tooth and nail to claim a starting spot, not just rolling their legs over in a friendly where fans again shouldn't expect too much. Pull your finger out boys, it's time to get serious!

why is every article giving the impression that people are expecting too much from this world cup? everyone i've spoken to is not expecting anything at all.

From my experience the hardcore fans are aware that we are very much underdogs to get through but your average casual fan/world cup bandwagoner thinks the whole team is of schwarzers and cahills standard and would be a near miracle for us not to get through the group stages.. i mean serbia? barely heard of them.

denmark are a good nation, not quite as good as ghana or serbia in my opinion but deffinitely close to that. if we cant beat them, we cant beat ghana and serbia. plain and simple. i expect a result. no excuses.

jamo91 - nail on head. We fans who know a thing or two about international football will cast a critical eye over tonight's proceedings, whereas the tv morning show wannabe's will don the green and gold scarf and spruik on as if they know what's going on to the latte sipping masses. Having said that, I'd like to see a stronger (not more physical), more cohesive performance from tonight's match.

The Danes will be in the same kind of situation. I don't think it's an excuse for the result. I think it is more an excuse for the quality we will see on the field.

This is bullshit, 10 days out Lucas! We do expect.
Sadest part is that Pim expects a good performance, im struggling to remember what that is.

The Danes will be tough, as will the rest of our games coming up. I'd just like to see a solid performance, something way better than against NZ. If they win then great, but I wouldn't be surprised to see us struggle a little.
crossbar & jamo91 . . . mass agree with the morning chat show (and others) efforts, they could do worse than get some decent football know all's on board for the next few weeks. Currently I've seen weather girls and current affairs reporters telling us how it will go. Nice to see some coverage though . . . can't wait for SBS to kick into gear with it's coverage.

Oh your being a bit funny Lucash.
In all seriousness though, I think the performance in this game is important. I think there should be a result but if there isn't, the main thing is the performance and seeing which players can bring something different, remember Emerton's free kick last time we played them, he was skipper as well. I'd personally love to see Jedi and Ruka prove they can make an impact off the bench.
