Not that I think Williams should be in for him. Williams isn't there because he is injured. Lowry isn't there because he hasn't played yet for Australia. Throw him a cap against USA FFS Pim, so his trip wasn't entirely meaningless. He gets to experience a World Cup training camp and go to the World Cup FREE. Fairly sure he is quite happy. May aswell throw him some game time there to see what he's got anyway. That way when Craig Moore trips over his zimmer frame getting off the team bus, we know the lad can play as injury cover. WHY THE FUCK would we just "throw him some game time" in our LAST warm up game if he has been cut from the squad?????!!!!!! Does anyone here think before they type??????? Also, kids like Oar and Lowry etc are getting their experience and are staying on as a train on squad. They most likely wouldn't have seen any game time anyways and are still there training gaining "experience" so what is the problem? Why wouldnt you pick seasoned pros in case you need to desperately call on someone rather than untested kids??? I know we should think of the future but thats why they are there now training with the big boys!!!!!!!!! ugh Edited by davide82: 3/6/2010 11:02:07 AM

Kewell and Kennedy both carrying injuries for the last few months - very possible that a workload of 3 games in just over a week might hurt us there. With only Rukavytsya as back up, him being relatively untested at international level. Would have liked to have seen another option in there.

Feel very sorry for Williams, thankfully he will probably be a great player for the national team down the track. Also very happy to hear Pim say what he thinks about the management at his club, not holding back.
I'm fairly content with these drops. Still not entirely happy with some earlier selections/drops, but these latest ones make perfect sense.

Williams is the only real surprise, if injured then (and sadly) fair enough.
Garcia, had a decent game against Uzbekistan in Sydney last year, besides that, still questionable.

You would have to be a fucking nut case if you thought you could justify that. good squad and good to have some promising players training eith the team. I hope Ruka finally get's a decent run vs the USA. Put simply, Oar has shown that he can use the ball, Garcia has shown that he can't.

belowzero wrote:Good squad good selection. The only problem is that we have an over reliance on Kennedy, hopefully this is the last world cup where we are forced to rely on a lone (tall/strong) forward to hold the ball up. Would love to see the clever through balls played through to the likes of ruka & co in the next campaign. This reliance on a big "hoof" up to Kennedy or formerly Dukes has got to stop. No it shouldn't.. It should complement us but Dukes was a much better holding man who could pass it on. Kennedy isn't exactly the same type of player as Viduka But its necessity to have at least someone taller enough to grab a cross esp when you have big man in defence like Germany does :P But luckily our midfielders can score and have some pace so that's a good thing. Shame about williams but hey it doesnt matter who is and who isn't since its more than likely players like holland, lowry and oar would have had bit parts anyways! the main 11 is where its at and I'm hoping with players like kewell fit we can play a lot better. I do think we have better team this time around.

i am sick of people talking about Oar, Yeh he plays alright in the A league, he played one game against Indonesia, when he came on against NZ (and yes i know it was only a few minutes) he looked out of place. I would much rather players who play a better standard of football and who have done so for a longer period of time in my world cup squad.

Such a shame as hes a very talented young man and deserving of his spot in the 23. Hopefully he'll learn from this.

Yes guitar John, and according to http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Hull_City_A.F.C._season_2009%E2%80%9310He had 14 appearances, for zero goals this past season.. not proven goalscorer, but it`s great to have a player we can all hate on in the team. Now that Holman has learned to pass to his team-mates!

Joffa wrote:Garcia is a proven goalscorer in the Premiership and the closest thing we will get to a second striker...he and Cahill will share that role and make no mistake Garcia will get game time. 6 goals in 79 appearances for Hull?? Proven goalscorer? That's a goal every 14 games, none too impressive strike rate

Garcia played 19 matches for the season and only missed from 10 April on with injury he also missed the first 10 marches of the season...so basically when he was fit he played.

Great call Fever. I'm very impressed with Pim's selections and his open dialogue and justified reasons for all decisions. Perhaps for some of you Pim haters, it'll take a year or two of pretty played 2/3 losses under a new coach before you realise how good he is/was with our national team. If Australia make the second round Pim should rightfully be respected higher than Hiddink for all he has done for us.
